Ok, this may be a silly question.. I'm starting my diet Monday, so I know I need to drastically increase my water intake.. Should I do it all at once, or work my way up to the required amount over a period of a few weeks. It seems whenever I intentionally increase my fluid intake, I spend more time running to the Men's Room than anything else. Will this improve over time, or do most of you just hook up a hose & let it go?? ;D

I think that you should increase it slowly! But hey... until i'm in the last two months of my contest prep, i am not forcing myself to drink to much water... As far as the Hose goes... ... I observed some amelioration... but if i maintain my water intake high, i still have to wake up at night from time to time! Mo

(The little French canadian that i am only spoke french for the first 24 years of his life (i'm 25 now)... so it will take me few years to bring my english at the same level ;D) Mo... YOUR hero ;D

Mrbig7, the hose is a good idea but not a practical one, LOL!
I do increase my water intake but it's not really part of my dieting process (except for the last ten days).
I like to keep well hydrated and you can kind of trick your body into excreting more than it normally would if you increase your fluid intake.
I also drink a lot of teas while on diet as they have a natural diuretic effect... plus I'm just tired as all hell so I keep the caffiene levels up this way.
In terms of any "real" value though, I only considerably increase during the last ten days as part of my water regulation process.
