In the name of muscle mass - worst tasting meals

I was reading an article Tim posted n the Diet & Nutrition section and he mentioned he eats raw eggs. This got me thinking: What is the most disgusting meal or food combination that you have consumed in the name of adding muscle mass?

My worst meals were back when I was a student and was broke. I had two favorites:

1) My most disgusting meal (in the opinion of my wife) is milk and tuna. I used to blend 1 pint of milk with a can or two of tuna and chug it down. I had to stop that after my wife threatened divorce.

2) The 2nd meal I would include is tuna and diet coke. This sounds a lot worse than it tastes. I used to blend one can of diet soda with a can of tuna and chug it down since it was easier than eating can after can of tuna and I got fed up with tuna sandwiches. The odd thing about this is that it doesn't taste anywhere near as bad as it sounds - it actually tastes a bit like a lime flavored smoothie.

I haven't consumed either of these meals for years. If I tried either now I'm sure I could not handle them.

What about everyone else? Anyone consume anything as bad or *shudder* worse?

When I was 16 (1970) I got the idea to mix papaya juice and tuna together in a bowl (we didn't have a blender). My six year old sister came by and I had her taste it. She ran screaming to mom that I had made her eat puke. To this day she still believes I had just thrown up in that bowl. It was nasty but I got it down.

Back in the day my traininhg partner Ray Harris and I used to buy Glandular Protein Powder which was like dessicated beef.

It was disgusting, and was akin to drinking liquid meat !!

I have also made up some weird concoctions in the blender but the Galndulars were the worst.

We`d hear the some big time bodybuilder used it so we`d buy some,only to give it away.

We were real dumb though, as we would always buy more later and try it again, as if we just imagined it tasted terrible. ;D

why is it that canned tuna or canned chicken are the first things that come to mind??? I do the tuna and milk thing myself, just not blended.... hurl!!!!

i don't have one...but i too would have to say Chunk Light Tuna is pretty discusting.....thats why i eat fresh salmon now. tasty.

Bluevan: You've definitely got me beat, papaya juice and tuna and no blender. No wonder your sis thought it was puke!


Tim: Any product with the word "glandular" in the name - you know it's not going to be good. I've bought some strange protein powders in the past but never one that has the texture of beef.

well ive been eating boiled fish for about 2 years now and still eat it about 5-6 times a day every day for 2 years. and my breath smells worse than an dumpster so i have to brush my teeth and chew bubble gum all the time but got damn its much protein in that fish

I just throw down the tuna and chase it with milk. gross and bland but hey man, whatever works ;D

I learned to make all kinds of crazy meals in jail but I don't think it added muscle. One shake I make all the time and it's seriously nasty is:
1 pot of coffee blended with 2 cans of Jack Mackrel (ya know canned fish). It tastes like sh*t but gets me going in the morning.

i think i want to try some SARDINES>....i have obsession with eating fish with bones....but not sure if Sardines canned is as good as Tuna canned nutritional wise.

Some pretty disgusting combinations there. Tuna and milk has to be the worst though.

Sometimes I'll get a 99 cent chilie from Wendy's eat half and add a can of tuna, isn't to bad.

I've just checked out the Chicken of the Sea products....surprisingly Their 50% less sodium Chunk Light Tuna 6oz can has 150cal, 35g protein.....which is very similar to 10 eggwhites which is about 164cal and 35g protein.

If anyone can stomach Tuna in the morning....hehe...eat that. Mix it in into your oatmeal.... Yuck.....

I also found that their Sockeye Red Salmon has equal cal and similar fat and protein with my 4oz of Salmon that I eat. Hmm..maybe i can start using Canned Fish instead of Fresh Fish if i really need to.

Has anybody ever tried mixing in Sardines or Clams in their oatmeal? My mom saids she used to put Chicken into oatmeal...and eat it like soup

I eat sardines by the ton brother. I have found that the more expensive ones are the way to go (2.50$ a can) I was getting these ones from Norway that had 32g of Protein per serving but they were skinless and boneless. I used to eat the boned up ones but crunching on the spine makes me cringe now.
