Okay, here's the deal.....we need to hit the grocery store to stock up on more solid protein sources (among other things), but won't have any money to do so until Friday night. In the meantime, it looks like we're going to run out of chicken and tuna well before then. So my question is this.....how much harm will it cause if I only have shakes (mixed with water) as my sole source of protein for a few days? Will I lose muscle? (I still have brown rice and oatmeal I can eat for carbs.) Also, am I going to be starving all the time if I can't have a solid protein meal after working out? Thanks, guys!!

You WILL NOT lose muscle. You MAY, however, be more hungry and find yourself holding a bit more water than normal.

I agree with BFx. As well as PBB!!!
Only thing that may happen, in addition, is your body may become "allergic" to that protein powder-if your using one type through the entire time. Not like you'll be coughing or sneezing at the powder, but your body will become more resistant to assimalating it. I'd try and mix up the types of powders if possible. I have to run out and get a gas mask now, just in case she doesn't have any Beano on hand! :Happy Spinner:

Good advice, guys, thanks! YB, your advice about rotating powder types (oh, great, now I admit to taking a powder! ;D) makes me think of another question......when I'm having my normal amount of shakes daily (2-3), should I also be rotating brands from time to time? I have 4 flavors right now, but I tend to favor the chocolate and chocolate mint since they are tastier when mixed with water......are they becoming less effective over time??

I can`t see that happening......your body doesn`t suddenly get immune to the protein content of chicken breasts does it.........it will process the whey protein,just as it would any other protein source,no mattter how many times you take it per day.

LOL, thanks, guys.....it looks like we should be able to go to the store tomorrow night and at least stock up on a few essentials.....if we write a check it shouldn't clear until Friday. Geez, even the poor dog needs food! I hate these "lean" times, but it's a good time to be cutting, since there's not much to cheat with, and we can't afford to eat out!

Hey xena, it happens to all of us from time-to-time.
I've done all shakes for a few days (long time ago) and it didn't affect my results at all. I'm guessing PBB has too cause she's right on the money in her post, LOL!! :Happy Spinner:
