OK, So I am just starting to add Creatine to my diet. I'm using "Weider" creatine capsules and am following the recomended dosage, etc... My problem is, when should I take them? Do I take them with food or on an empty stomach? It says to take with a "high-glycemic low acid juice or beverage (grape juice, apple juice, etc...)" but says nothing about when to take it. Does anybody have any input? On a side note, the Arnold classic is just ending here in Columbus, about 30 miles west of where I'm at. It is a big hit this year and has benefited not only the fitness world but also greatly helped the economy of the greater Columbus area. We appreciate all who are involved.

JW,I haven`t taken creatine in quite some time now,but I think the powder would be more effective, economical, and easier to use...........mix it in dextrose powder, oir Gatorade powder, and water after you train........also, this is the ideal time to take a whey protein shake......immediately after training, to take advantage of the post-workout insulin spike created by taking in simple carbs(dextrose or Gatorade powder),which spikes insulin levels, and shuttles protein and carbs, and in this case creatine,to your depleted muscles, which are spent from working out.
If you do a search,or look in the Nutrition Section, you will find lot`s more detailed info on both creatine, and the importance of post-workout nutrition.

JW, I agree with Tim, in the future the bulk powder is much more economical and mixes in nicely with your simple carb source to deliver the fastest dose to your muscles. I mix mine with cool-aid and chug it (which can be brutal early in the morning!) :Funky Chicken:
Haven't taken it in a while though, since I didn't make that much gains on it.

Thanks Tim for the info on the "avatar" pic. I was able to change it to something else. Maybe when I finally get that big...I'll put my own pic up!
So what I am hearing from you all is that I should be taking my supplements right after working out. It doesn't matter whether it's with food or not, and the powder is better. I've heard that the best time for supplements is up to 45 min after a workout. But w/vitamins, etc...I know they need to be taken w/food. I was unsure about the creatine. Actually I'm still not sure. So the consensus is don't worry, just chug it down when my workout is finished?

JW,regarding post-workout nutrition.............it is the very best time to ingest carbs as they will be efficiently utilized for replenishment and repair.
Most bodybuilders mix a simple carb with whey protein powder in water and take it immediately after training......you can bring a shaker jar with you to the gym with your powders in it,and simply add water, shake, and drink, right after you workout.........also,add the creatine to the mix,as it will be shuttled into the depleted muscle cells, for the reasons cited in my previous post.
Also,post-workout is a good time to take vitamins........but ,some water soluble vitamins ,such as Vitimains C,and B-Complex, should be taken at intervals during the day and night ,due to the body taking what it needs and the rest being excreted in the urine and sweat.
There is a lot of people here who are far more knowledgable than me when it comes to supplementation, among other things, but this is good basic advice I advise you to try out.
