At 4pm i eat 4 oz of beef and about 80 carb i start work at 5:45. Depending how hard i workout out and/or how i feel i may eat 1 slice whole grain bread and 1 teaspoon of olive oil at 5:00. I eat at 7:30 consuming a 23 g protien shake (no carb) and 2 slices whole grain bread. Get off work about 9:30-9:45 and eat when i get home. Pretty much as much as i can eat such as 8-12 oz of lean meat and 80-120 g carb.
I work at UPS sorting boxes for 4 hours straight (1 bathroom break but no other break...straight work). Its physically demanding. All night i pick up boxes over my head that weight from 1 pound to 70 pounds. My question is am i going into a catabolic state doing this. Is my 7:30 meal enough to counteract the work. Or should i include some simple carbs and/or cut out the slow burning carbs. I was thinking about bringing gaterade and trying that but i dont want to get fat. I am naturally lean person. What do you think?

I takes a few gulps of optimum nutrition amino 2200 at work..Its a liquid protein that has 22 grams of protein for 4 tablespoons, but at work i drink it right from the bottle. Buy some of that and keep it with you while your woking along with a protein bar.I work anywhere from 8 to 12 hour shifts so its hard to maintain your nutriton at work.You have to plan your meals out and rely on what you bring. I am lucky to have a break every two hours though.

The best thing that anybody could do for themselves is to buy a Playmate cooler, and fill it up with all the meals you will need for your day/night at work, and bring it with you. Working a physical job, and relying on protein powder with no carbs,and bread, just won`t cut it, especially if you are doing DC training. By all means, keep slow burning complex carbs in as opposed to simple carbs, for sustained energy,but switch from bread, to baked potatoes,brown rice,or even pasta......chicken breasts,tuna,and lean beef,should be your protein sources. Always opt for food if you are able to as opposed to a shake or supplements. I carry food with me wherever I go, and could care less what people think......if it`s time to eat,I eat.................cold food, or in a microwave, it doesn`t matter.......eat for gains, not for taste or convenience!! BTW,Muscleboy,if you are going to train DC style, he advocates mega-calories ,and some extreme eating. Tupperware and a cooler........ are your friends!!

When i work i work my ass off and i don't usually take more then a 3-5 minute breaks until i am done with the job.
I just throw whatevers in the fridge into a plastic ziplock back and throw that into one of those plastic ones they give you at the grocery store, in the summer i use my igloo thing.
I also keep a can opener and tuna and other canned fish on hand in my truck even cheese and crackers and try to drink plenty of water while i'm working i just keep a cup full on a counter wherever i am everytime i pass it i take a gulp.
IF i don't do this i am starving by the time i finish work usually 6 hours average and stop at a drive thru or store and buy fast food crap.....

Even when i'm at school...my lunch period of 20-30min. isn't enough for me to finish my lunch. Its too big!
If you really DON't HAVE TIME to eat real food...i would suggest a Casein Protein Shake. Or drink as much milk as you can and eat some fruit.

Plus my vitamins. Of course, some people look at me like I'm crazy -- I am. And when the invariable comment is made, I simply tell them: "Well, that's the reason why you look the way you do, and I look the way I do."

Plus my vitamins. Of course, some people look at me like I'm crazy -- I am. And when the invariable comment is made, I simply tell them: "Well, that's the reason why you look the way you do, and I look the way I do." Bish,I used to get those comments at work all the time....."Why do you eat so much tuna" ? "So I never end up with a waistline like you ..................chubby"!!

I've been a hard gainer all my life. Somewhere around 155 to 160 ever since high school (for all you kids out there this is my 25 year reunion). Anyway I started eat like this since January, I weighed in at 179 today. Still around 11 to 12% body fat. I guess your never too old...
