Diet and Nutrition is the #1 most important aspect of bodybuilding. No matter how hard you train if these aspects are not spot on, you will garner little to no gains. SO WHY THE HELL DON'T WE HAVE MORE DISCUSSIONS ON BOARDS ABOUT DIET AND NUTRITION? Maybe I'll just start up some threads to get people going. Let's go people, lets ask, learn, and grow as bodybuilders (mentally and physically)!

You are so right about diet and nutrition. for the first 7 or 8 yrs of lifting weights I new that I had to "feed" the muscles. What I did was work out then hit the Burger King or what ever and eat a sh** load of Crap thinking I was doing good. lmao. I waisted so many yrs. doing the wrong thing, until I started to read and stopped thinking I "new it all"

Okay, couple of replies. One from Carl, a very very good bodybuilder I might add, that I had the pleasure of competing w/ at my very first contest. and one from the GURU and my coach, bodyfx. Anyone else?
I'll start with some things:
First, I'll just put my philosophies on "BRACKETING" my workout. I always feel better before, during, after, and at my subsequent workout when I do something like the following:
3 Hours Before lifting: Eat a meal w/ a lean protein source (40-60 grams) and a complex carbohydrate (30-50 grams)
1 Hour Before Lifting: 40 Grams Whey 20-25 Grams Fat
Post Workout: 50 Carbs 50 BGrams Whey Protein
1 Hour Later 30-50 Complex Carbs w/ Lean Beef & Leafy Vegetables (usually Broccoli)
Usually when I'm planning my weekly or monthly diet and my daily menu, I completely plan everything around these meals. These meals usually NEVER change for me. It's usually Chicken and Brown Rice 3 hours before, Whey Protein and 1.5-2 oz of almonds or 2 TBSP Almond butter 1 hour before, and Whey Protein and Liquid Carbs Post workout. Then 1-2 hours later I like to have a small-Medium Sweet Potato and Lean Steak or Lean Beef (about 8-10 oz).
Hope this gets some things started.

From contest dieting, I have learned that simply taking in your food across the day (regardless of when you train, do cardio, etc...) provides constant energy and consisitent output. Consistent calories at regular intervals.

That's what I'm talking about. That's a GREAT NUGGET of knowledge for many of us to put to work! Having more ideas/methods is only gonig to increase us as bodybuilders adn teachers of the sport!~

For some its a bowl of Applejacks for breakfast, a Double Whopper for lunch, a couple of slices of pizza for dinner, and some ice cream for a snack at night. "I don't understand why I'm not growing!?"

This importance of nutrition is so true. To be honest, it's taken me almost 8 years to realize- I HAVE to eat more. I obsessed about it- I knew I had to eat more but was afraid that I'd end up with too much fat. I've just recently realized that you're gonna have some fat on ya while your trying to build up- it's just how it works. Am I wrong?

"but i don't want to get too big" oh yea bro... watch out... one day I touched a heavy dumbbell with my pinky and BOOM, I swolled up so big they had to grease up doorways to get me through!

Hahaha Yeah, I get people asking me for diets all the time and they always say, "But I don't want to get too big" I get offended by that. It's hard work and nutri9tion is the NUMBER 1 KEY to be honest

And even those who WANT to be big... when they hear what they must do... they usually dont want to be big anymore ;D
Thank for talking about that BodyFX: "a bowl of Applejacks" i would kill to eat that ;D But at 5 days out of my contest, i think i'll wait few more days... ;D
The sentence of the day: "I dont want to become too big... i just want to tone...."
