For a long time, I had a tub of the EAS whey protein. When I mixed it up with a shaker I felt that the powder never fully mixed. There were large chunks stuck to the side of the shaker.
I recently bought Designer Whey and and it mixed completely!!!
Think I'll stick to the Designer Whey. Anyone else have other brands that mix well in shakers?

It also depends on the shaker cup itself, or the person shaking it. For years, my friend would complain about how the protein in his cup did not mix. I told him what to do, and he still had troubles. So, one day right in front of him, I did exactly what he did all these years/times, and it came out perfect. Sometimes, with different brands-if you don't already do this- try putting the water/milk in first (just a few ounces). Then add the powder and shake it a few times to mix the water and powder. Then add more water/milk, and shake it more intensely. There are very few powders on the market today that won't mix in some way, shape or form.

Also, I've seen some shakers without "grates" or inserts on the top of the cup to help break-up of the powder. Essentially, the powder can't break-up since there is nothing for it to go through. GNC's cups are like this. However, my cups from DPS, have this grate or strainer/collonder (sp?) and powders break-up much easier. There are many ways to skin this cat.....

i've always used Optimum Nutrition Whey.
When you use cold water to shake...it might have some "wet" chunks.
If you use room temperature water it is nicely mixed and watery.

I always put the milk/water in first then add the powder..Like YB said the containers with grates at the top are awesome for breaking up residual powder

I always put my powder in the shaker before I leave for work. I just add water at a later time.
I'll try a few things as suggested.

yes..i usually have 2 scoops...
so i just pour in 1 16oz bottle of water in my shaker..and ready to go.

I use Optimum Nutrition. It is cheap and high in protein per serving. Carbs and fat are also low. I have tried many brands of protein powders over the years and I don't notice any differences between any of them.

I've been using vanilla Pro rated whey protein powder from Costco. It mixes well and tastes great. I use a small mason jar with a handle as a shaker. I just might be a redneck doing it this way. ;D www.wellements.com/prorated.asp

Syntrax Nectar shakes up PERFECTLY. Substance WPI by Primaforce shakes up quite nicely too. As does 100% Whey by Optimum
