I was wondering what different supplements everyone takes.
I have creatine monohydrate(sp?) and whey protein. Would it be worht spending the money on bcaa's?
I noticed alot of people take large amounts of creatine but i normally only take 5 grams after working out, is this right?

BCAA's are well worth it. They really work for me, possibly the only thing that does....better than creatine IMO. I'd say stick with the protein, though use a blend rather than a straight whey or casein protein. And also use a bit of BCAA"s and you'll be good to go. Matter of fact, that's all I use now.

Joe, in my opinion, we should take a look at the ratio cost/benefits (I'm talking like an accountant, i know ;D ) For sur there is many good supps you can buy, but you need, by trial and error, to determine how much they help you to improve versus the cost of it. For exemple, if glutamine seems to help me improve my physique by 0,02%... It's better than nothing, but for 25$ per month, i'm not sure! So if money is no object or if you train to win M. Olympia it's something else… but if not, i would say invest on food (no doubt, the best cost/benefits ratio), protein powder and multi-vitamins. After that, give some supps a try at like BCAA's, cratine, glutamine, Arginine, etc…
My supplements stack: - Protein isolate (all year) - Multi-vits (all years) - No explode ( half year) - Creatine Mono (3 months / years) - Glutamine (3 months / Years)

Mo Thanks MO, i don't have alot of money to spend that is why i was asking everyone what they took. Is it best to cycle creatine? I noticed it looks as if you only take it 3 months out of the year unless i am reading that wrong. I think when i get the extra money i will invest in some bcaa's from trueprotien. I already have whey protein, creatine, and multivitamins so bcaa's will probably be the last thing i buy. thanks

Joe, i do cycle my creatine… again cost/benefits… when i take creatine for more than 3 months a year, i observe very few improvements for my money so i keep taking it only 3-4 months… the perfect time period for me. You need to experiment and learn what works for you!

Now that being said, here is my current supp stack and the EXACT products I use. I am on this pre contest and I will not change it. I've basically been on these exact supps or supps very similar for the last year and have seen more progress than ever.
Multi Vitamin - Beverly Ultra 4 Vitamin C - Members Mark Brand Whey Protein - Nectar by Syntrax BCAA's/Glutamin/CEE - Xtend by Scivation/Glutamine by ON/CEE by Primaforce I take this mix 30 minutes before meals 1, 3, 5, & 7 NO Shotgun by VPX pre workout Regeneration X by ALRI post workout (30-min before my whey and carbs)
Now, the NO and Regen X are newly added. Before I would just use the BCAA/Glut/CEE mix and add some type of NO product pre and post. However, I've noticed a pretty big difference in the NO and Regen X. I will use this tack as long as I can.
If you're worried about pricing, I get this stuff pretty cheap from an internet site.

Just read this hoss, i take a multivitamin, extra vitamin c and e later in the day and have ON WHEY PROTEIN and gnc creatine mono. I use to have glutamine but keep hearing it is worthless i don't know myself. What website to you buy from hoss? I would really like to buy some bcaa's but my local gnc only sells in pill form which drives the price up. lmk

Joe, I use www.dpsnutrition.com I also use www.trueprotein.com tp.com has bulk amino's and glutamine. dps has Xtend by Scivation and it's a glut/bcaa formula (7 grams bcaa and 2 glut per serving) that is watermelon flavored and not bad. MRM also has a bcaa+g formula (5 grams bcaa and 1 gram glut) that is lemonade and dps carries that for a decent price. I'm not going to get into the whole glutamine discussion, but I'm a believer in it and have seen a benefit from it, especially when taken with bcaa's & cee. Actually, you may just want to think about bodyfx2's Cell Swell Matrix from tp.com. It's probably the single best supp out there (Arginine/CEE/Glut/BCAA/Insuligenic.

Joe, I use whey isolate, creatine, EFA's, vitamin C, calcium, and glucosamine/chondroitin. I am a big believer in whey isolate with creatine and dextrose pre and post workout. I've been using cell swell matrix for this contest and I believe its played a role in getting me more dense and hard than ever before. I order all my protein and creatine from trueprotein.com I have never used cee until I started using the csm. I always got good results from regular creatine I don't know if cee is any better. Another good site to check out for supps is www.musclemagnepa.com

Mutlivitamin - Animal Pak Joint supplement - Animal Flex Pre workout - Animal Pump (have also used Shotgun) Post workout - True Protein fast recovery formula MRP's/Bars - when I can't get a meal in
I have used BCAA's/EAA's but I only find them worth the money when I am cutting. When I take in enough calories, I don't see a difference with them

Just my 2 Cents here!
Please make sure you have your diet down first. I beleive that any discussion on supplements should start with knowing that that is exactly what they are...SUPPLEMENTS to your nutrition plan. Remember, supplements, even natural ones can effect you. Check with your doctor to make sure something you may wish to add, does not contraindicate something else your taking (ie: Creatine and high blood pressure meds).
With that said, I stick with a good mulit-vitamin (I switch these around from time to time, Using Beverly Mulit-Paks right now), BCAA's, some ZMA at night before bed. Some glutamine for recovery and keep the immune system healthy. As far as creatine is concerned, I only use it the off season. I use a micronized creatine because I found it easier on my digestive system. There are a LOT of opinions on when and how much to take, but what works for me is 5 g before and 5 grams after my workouts. I also throw somw wheat germ in my protein shakes to keep things moving in the digestive tract also. When doing cardio, I also throw in a thermogenic to help burn fat a little more efficiently, and for the energy.
Again....make SURE your nutrition plan is down first. As you mentioned, supplements can be expensive, and a lot of them don't work for many people. Also, don't use too many at one time. How will you know what is, or is not working if you mix in too many new things at once. Keep a journal. Write it down. What works. What doesn't work. How it made you feel. How much you spent (you'll look back at that one from time-to-time!) Sorry this was so long, but I hope it stimulates some thoughts.

Protein, protein, and MORE protein!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really don't even consider protein powder a supplement, but rather a "staple" of my diet. When someone at my gym wants only one supplement, I always suggest protein first, then creatine, and then BCAA's. The thing with the BCAA's, is that you have to know WHEN to take them, or you are just throwing away the money. Aminos are great to use as a "bridge" between meals, so that you don't go catabolic. I "catch" a lot of kids taking them with meals, and that really defeats the purpose (unless you are a vegetarian) of taking them. Since BCAA's are basically "protein in a pill" it doesn't make any sence to take them with chicken, fish, meat or any other protein rich meal. If you are going to be "out and about," however, and be spending time between meals, then BCAA's are a great and convenient way to be able to get your protein in "on the go." Another good time to take them is immediatly after a workout if you are not going to be able to eat at least 45 minutes later, Vin.
