I have yet to read a thread on BB books discussed so whoever has any recommendations be it for motivation, education, inspiration, I'd like to hear about them.

THE BOOK YOU HAVE TO HAVE: "New High-Intensity Bodybuilding," by Ellington Darden, PhD. (revised and expanded edition) It is by far the best bodybuilding book I have ever read. Great info on training, diet and best of all - AMAZING photos. Platz from '81, Sergio from numerous years, Bertil, Samir, Deferro, etc. Best BB book ever. OTHERS "Beef It," by Robert Kennedy (motivation and some good info) "Heavy Duty," by Mike Mentzer (Info and photos) "Joe Weider's Mr. Olympia Training Encyclopedia" - Get this for the photos - amazing pics of the best. But the info inside is garbage. A lot of "I used weider principle [blah] to do [x,y,z]." Some of it I'm not so sure I believe either, for example you know how Arnold always credited Reg Park for helping his calves? Not in this book - it was apparently Weider who trained them to perfection., Anyways, the photos make it worth it.

Those are some good ones Robert.I`d like to add Arnold`s "The New Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding"to the list. The training advice is a bit much in the regard that volume is way too high,IMO, but the photos are very inspiring. For a pretty good read on one person`s experience with steroids and bodybuilding competition get "Muscle-The Confessions of an Unlikely Bodybuilder" it tells the story of how a person travels to California ,gets involved in using and abusing steroids, and how they affect his thoughts when the smoke clears. Then there`s the original"Pumping Iron" great look at the subculture of bodybuilding in the seventies.

Add to the list all "3 More Reps" books Vince Gironda'a "Unleashing the Wild Physique" Rick Wayne's "The Bodymen" and "Muscle Wars" all out of print but more than well worth the effort to locate and procure them. All must have's!
