Kyle Maynard was born March 24, 1986 with a rare disorder called, “Congenital Amputation,” leaving him with three joints; a neck and two shoulders. He has no elbows or knees. He measures just over 2 feet tall and weighs approximately 103 pounds. Despite his physical abnormalities, Kyle Maynard is one of the top high school wrestlers in Georgia (35-16), posting a 3-2 record at the 2004 Georgia High School Wrestling Championships and narrowly missing All-American status at the NHSCA National Wrestling Championships. The story of Kyle Maynard transcends the sport of wrestling. It sends a message of hope to those who must persevere in overcoming insurmountable odds. What many of us would consider a handicap, Kyle uses as a gift. It is not only Kyle’s attitude towards wrestling that endures him into the hearts of those he comes into contact with, but also, his passion and zest for life that is equally contagious. He may only be two feet tall, but is truly a giant amongst men.

wow...inspirational. Kyle certainly puts things in perspective. He seems like someone we could all learn from: next time you say "That's impossible" or "I can't do that". just thinking about Kyles drive and dedication makes me ashamed of all the times I haven't given 100% in life or in the gym but his story is also very inspiring. i know I won't be 'giving up' in the gym tonight. wow.

jaxon: I han't even noticed that he was lifting 70 per arm. very impressive. Reminds me of another inspirational lifter : Simon Robinson. I'm sure evryone on here is familiar iwth Simon Robinson from the 2003 Olympia, but for those who aren't: --------------------------------------------------------------- Perhaps one of the brightest moments and biggest surprises at this years Mr. Olympia was a standing ovation from over 6,000 fans for Simon Robinson. Born in Mansfield, England, 37 year-old Robinson was an active child who excelled at playing football (soccer). Blessed with exceptional athletic ability, he tried out for several professional football clubs. Unfortunately, he developed a medical condition which limited his eyesight and had to give up this pursuit. However, he quickly moved on and guided by his older brother, he turned to Tai kwon do. Gifted with speed and coordination, he immediately responded to martial arts training and by 16, Simon was the British junior champion-a title he held for four consecutive years. While fighting older opponents, he realized that he had to improve his strength and went to a bodybuilding gym where he soon became hooked. At 20, he entered his first local bodybuilding competition. Influenced by his favorite bodybuilders John Brown and Bertil Fox, he went on to win Mr. Britain, Mr. Europe and Mr. World. Simon competed in over 20 local and international bodybuilding contests, remarkably never placing out of the top two. He developed a reputation as one of the best bodybuilders in the United Kingdom and Europe. Based on his unlimited potential, it seemed likely that he would follow in the foot steps of fellow country men Albert Beckles, Johnny Fuller, and Dorian Yates attaining IFBB Pro status. Regrettably, Simon was involved in a horrific accident that put him in a coma for 12 days and he also lost a limb. With the love and support of family and friends, he preserved through a number of surgeries and years of physical therapy. Now, Simon is back on the bodybuilding stage and recently brought down the house displaying an incredible physique as a guest poser at the 2003 Mr. Olympia. By: Rob Wilkins ---------------------------------------------------- These pictures are incredible, especially when you consider he's standing next to some of the top pro's - his physique holds its own. In this era of bodybuilding when competitors are often considered self centered and have lost the camaraderie associated with old school bbers, these photos show that support and camaraderie are still qualities valued in bbers. Another inspirational athlete

Very inspirational. Someone like Kyle is a true winner and role model.
People like Simon, Greg Rando (legally blind IFBB pro) and the wheelchair competitors are the true definition of class and courage.
