Down to the last couple of dips of a can of snuff.. Promised myself that I was going to turn over a new leaf(sorry about the clliche and the pun was not intended). But after almost 20 years of dipping snuff, time to stop. Figured out the cost in my head. A can of snuff(skoal, copenhagen) where I currently live costs almost $4 bucks a can now(basically due to added taxes). When I first started it was around $2 a can. Went through a can appx. an average of every 3 days, so that is about a buck a day on snuff, averaging the price through the years. $365 X 20=$7300. Didn't exactly know where to put this thread, but I know and expect that I am going to be in a bad mood for a couple of days. Thanks for reading and any experiences with quitting tobacco welcomed.

When I quit I was doing a can a day. It is not easy but you can do it !! No alcohol < I can almost guarantee you won't make it if you drink>. Lots and lots of chewing gum < I used the strongest type of gum like big red, cinamin etc etc>. Do not go to the "bandit" type pouches, you won't last and you will go back to leaf. You can do this , you should do this , you will do this And remember you are really only talking a couple of days

Jim, thank you for your experience and advice.
Damn, if you can give up a can a day habit, I can do it also.
Thanks again, Take care.

John, we're here for you. If you get the urge, log in and post. Have a cousin who smoked 2 packs of cigarettes a day, and now has not had one in two months. When he realized he was spending over $250 a month, that jolted him. As Jim, said chewing gum (sugarless) works well.
You can do it. Keep us posted.

Thanks Gerry for the encouragement. I'll probably go through a carton of gum.

Quit smoking about 8 1/2 months ago. Still dip from time to time, but this will end here shortly. I am successful for setting a date and on that day just dump it, no whining, no bit*hing, just do it. It will be hard but the phrase "put it behind you" is the best thing that comes to mind.

Addiction is a powerful thing and I've seen first hand how even trival addictions can be a big deal to the person going through it. Good luck with quitting that habit and keep hammering that amount of money spent into your head when you feel like giving in to temptation.

"I am successful for setting a date and on that day just dump it, no whining, no bit*hing, just do it. It will be hard but the phrase "put it behind you" is the best thing that comes to mind" <p> Great motto to live by, Jaxon.
