In my mind *modern* womens bodybuilding was first put on the map by a woman named Lisa Lyons. And no I certainly have NOT forgotton about Abby "Pudgy" Stockon and her place is secure in BB history. Others that come to mind of the VERY early days are Laura Combs and of course this lady below to be followed by possibly the best female BB ever Cory Everson. Though a little visual might be nice of our Rachel. Enjoy! f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/kenbaudoux/vwp?.dir=/IronAge+ON&.dnm=Rachel.jpg&.view=t

She is beautiful Ken,but where is the distended gut, veins, overdevelopment, and masculine lantern jaw? ;D It`s a shame how the sport of women`s bodybuilding never found it`s direction.

T.J.,
It's inevitable if you think about it and it's the same in men's. I mean, let's say that Bob Paris or Danny Padilla had absolutely perfect proportions (Bob was close but not perfect). What do you do after that? How do you improve on it? In baseball, no matter how good some guy is, there's always a way to be better - no one can bat 1.000. However, in bodybuilding, how do you improve on perfect proportion? Just make it all bigger. Being bigger than guys before you is an easy way to say you're better - and the same is true for women's BB. For women, after a certain point, you want to have something to continue to train for. I mean no one wants to stop and say - it's all perfetc now. The easiest way is to just say - I need to be bigger. that's much more apparent of a change. Too bad.

All excellent posts with much food for thought. I have to add Diana Dennis to the list. Stunning facially and body wise. And one of the best posers ever. Very charismatic and her presentation was flawless.
And also admire Juliette Bergmann and Lenda Murray. They each beautifully combine athleticism and femininity.

Tim, Pudgy recently lost her beloved Les to cancer. As was his wish, he was cremated, and their daughter Laura just donated their collection of butterflies to the Los Angeles County Museum.
Also along sad lines is the eye-opening reminder that it was May 16 (some say a different day) in 1988 when Kay Baxter died when her car flipped over. Time rushes by- I would not have thought she died 16 years ago!

joe, Ilearned of Les Stockton`s passing through your forum.(where else)
I didn`t know this was the date of the untimely demise of Kay Baxter.
Time does fly,and I hope she is resting peacefully.
