Before entering Fitness Competition she was an athlete but due to injuries she had to quit.
Bodysport: Have you been an athlete your whole life?
Davana: Yes, my whole life. I was a track athlete in school for 6 years and competed in cross country, 800 meters, 1600 meters, 3200 meters and relay. I also played basketball for a year and field hockey for a year.
Bodysport: You have said that everything you decide to do, you do at 100% to be the best or you don’t do it at all. What were some of your achievements in track?
Davana: I was all conference, all county and all state for 4 years in high school. I was chosen as captain of the cross country team in my sophomore year, something that is unheard of to have a younger student captain of older girls. In 8th grade I was sent to East Strasbourg University in Pennsylvania, the youngest person ever sent there, to train with high school athletes in preparation for the Jr. Olympics. I have about 367 medals at home from track that I just picked up from my mom’s house.
Bodysport: Did you compete in the Jr. Olympics?
Davana: After East Strasbourg I went home and won every race I competed in except one where I fell during the race. I competed in the Jr. Olympics in the 1600 meters (3.1 miles) as an 8th grader against high school athletes (I was one of the youngest athletes in the event) and finished around 61st or 62nd in a field of hundreds.
