Rob,this is the first time I haven`t done a bunch of show`s since 1999.
I usually enter around 5 contests a year and at one time I did 7 in a year.
This makes for a very short off-season and I decided this year to take a year off from competing in an effort to add more overall size and ring up my lagging legs and back development.
You can`t make any appreciable size gains when your off-season is only 3-4 months and then you go back to a Spartan like diet for 6-9 months.
It`s the best thing I ever did for my body as I have put on a considerable amount of decent weight........especially in the ab area!! ;D
I will be doing the NPC Masters Nationals next July as a 50 year old kid, so that`s my major goal,just to place top 5, and I`ll probably hit a few more big contests along the way.
I will definately be better off for the year away from competing.

Kyle here`s my plan on paper,mind you it might not pan out due to finances.
May-New Englands in Boston
July-Masters Nats in Pittsburgh
August-Southern States in Ft. Lauderdale
And possibly the Atlantic States in NYC in June .
They are all iffy but Pittsburgh is a definate go and I`m busting balls daily to bring a better physique than I ever have to the stage.

Agree, Tim. Time off can only help. Doing too many shows without a break can burn anyone out.
