I read the arm training article in the September 2004 Ironman last night. I stumbled onto this article looking for something else. I only read a couple of articles a month in that magazine any more.
The Jim Hafer article reminded of the old Peary Rader Iron Man. In fact, I recall reading about his big weight gain hen he was in his teens or possibly very early twenties.
I do not believe he has authored an article in over 30 years. At least not in Ironman or Iron Man. That is surprising to me considering that he claims a 400 pound olympic press.
Does anyone on the board remember his original article or ever seen him lift?

I think that I read his story in a back issue that I purchased. I remember that he did include before and after pictures and they looked real. He claimed a 102 pound gain in about 9 months in the recent issue of IM. I vaguely seem to recall that that is very close, if not identical, to his claim, on or about the late 60's.
The two pictures do look like it could have been on or close to a difference of 100 pounds.
I am more impressed with the 400 pound press and I am aware that the presses were often equal to the jerks in the early 70's. A 400 pound overhead anything is impressive to me, regardless of bodyweight.
