OK guys, I was off the gym for two weeks while healing an injury ("minor" and "superficial" pec tear). So I was doing cardio and legs on leg day... then two weeks back I caught this little sore throat/cough thingy. I suffered through a week in and out of work (1/2 days and such) and have pretty much not been out of bed for the last week. My composition has changed: I have visibly lost size and am softer looking, yet the f'n scale says I've lost about 5 lbs... considering I look fatter, one can only presume a few lbs of that is muscle. I'm so pissed (hairy and stinky to boot ;D). Great long weekend FFS!!! Off work again today and I'm back to the doctor tomorrow morning (now that I'm able to eat again, I presume I'm getting over it...). This is a real setback for my nationals prep for next year I was on a great roll for a while there but an entire month off is counterproductive. On the bright side, some onld injuries have stopped hurting and my lower back feels... almost good. T

Troy,I wondered where you`ve been for the past few days. Do not worry, all is not lost!! I wrote the book on "muscle memory", and beleive me,you will be back to top form in no time flat. I was stuck at home for months las winter, and my training sucked,I lost size and strength but have since surpassed my fomer condition. I also once (2001), broke 3 ribs, and suffered a hematoma of the liver, due to a fall on icy steps, and I literally lost everything . I referred to myself as a soft, hairy, pencil neck!! ;D A few months earlier I had done 5 contests, and placed well in all of them. I healed up,and slowly started back, and once again blew past my former condition. I know it screws with your head mentally, but as I said, don`t worry, and once you get back to training and eating again, you`ll blow by your past conditon in no time flat. Good luck, and hang in there ,you`ll be back! I hope you feel better soon bro!! Stay positive!

Tim's right, Troyster. You will be back better than ever. Right now, just concentrate on feeling 100%.
Get well soon.

Troy, I really sympathize.
There's nothing worse than being forced to take time off from training. IT's like you can actually see the muscles getting smaller as the days missed from training increases...its probably just psychological but that doesn't make it any easier...

Thanks guys Well I'm back at work today. Spent the entire morning running to doctor, blood tests, pharmacy, etc. Turns out I had a sinus infection that spread into my throat and lungs. Sounds nastier than it is but they gave some great drugs!! LOL, taking my codine cough syrup as I type. I know a lot of it is psychological. I can deal with most anything except when it's to the point that I can do nothing but... sit. Oh well, I feel I'm on the mend so that's a good thing. He also set up with some physio for my right shoulder/pec. Thanks for the support, I'm in much better spirits today Troy

Glad to hear everything is getting better, Troy. Missed four days due to the car accident and I lost 5 lbs. also, but Tim and you all gave me the morale boost to get back on track, which I'm glad you all did, since it has already paid off in a little way. I attended a family wedding last weekend and reletives I haven't seen in a year, gave me compliments, such as "have you been lifting, you look good", and "my little brother is going to be able to beat me up". My intention is not to put the onus of this thread on me, just to say that even six weeks of lifting can produce results. Off to the gym now, back and traps day. Take care.
