Hello everyone,
my name is Cory, im from socal. I was a powerlifter for around a year and a half, but recently quit because my goals have changed to getting into shape for bootcamp. I leave in 9 days, and i know im prepared.
im 17, 6'3, and currently 200 lbs (down from 230 in the PL days) my best lifts at 220 were 280 raw bench 350 single ply 500 sumo deadlift n/a squat because of hip problem
looks like a nice little forum!

Welcome to the board, I hope you will have time to post while in boot camp. Unfourtantly as for trying to get in shape for bootcamp there isnt much you can do, they will break you, but not as bad as the ones who are not in somewhat good shape. Since you said bootcamp you must be joining the Marines, I am Army from mid 80's. If it means anything I am proud of you for being part of the military.

Cory! Welcome!
Boot camp could be Marines OR Navy. I also was Army from 78-92. Drill Sergenat at Ft Jackson SC from 82-83. Nabba was pretty close....they will break you down, but they will reform and rebuild you all over again. Trust me! It's mostly a head game. Just stay with the program. When I took my "trainees" off the cattle car, in their civilian clothes, with long hair and attitude. At the end of 8 weeks, they were no longer what they were, but what I made them...SOLDIERS! A Team, that pushed and fought with heart. They would, and still do, anything for one another.
It will be an experience you will never forget. Savor the moment. Semper Fi ~ Carpe Diem!

Lol I missed being your recruit, I was in Ft Leonardwood in the fall/winter of 83..AHHH the fond memories of the cattle truck the DI's screaming you got five minutes to stow your gear and four minutes fifty nine seconds are already gone. Who can forget PT and your on the run and the weak link falls back and they leave him get a half mile back, and the whole platoon has to turn around and pick him up and keep doing it if he falls behind.
