I've been on quite a few bodybuilding message boards, but was referred to this one recently. I'm already seeing a lot of great advice and hopefully you all can see me live my dream and compete in the next few years.

Wow, I can't believe how many people responded to this! Its great to see a board like this; so supportive and forward. Anyway, I'm far from competing. I'm 5'11'', 220 lbs around 16%. You guys probably know the member who referred this site, Mrky03.
By the way, I just finished reading the carb cycling thread yesterday and really started in on it today. I can't wait to see where I am in 12 weeks.

I'm so excited about this site! I can't believe how much people are willing to help out. I may not have the best genetics, but I like to think I'm determined. The help of the people on this board could definitely be what I need to get me ready to compete in the next couple years (Actually, my goal is before my 23th birthday).

Welcome Nick! You'll find that the longe you stick around, the better this board gets. It's really head and shoulders (or maybe traps and delts?) above the rest.

haha... Thanks Rich. I've been reading a lot of the posts on here, there is a ton of good information. I guess I'm ready to step up my game and go from 'dedicated lifter' to 'future bodybuilder.'

Whew, that's a scary thought! I want to be a monster who's just ripped to shreds before I competed, but maybe that isn't very realistic. You can always be a little more ripped and just a little bigger. Well, I thought I was about a year away, maybe two, I thought my diet, routine, etc was on track, but I'm learning now just how wrong I was. I'll be there one day, just maybe not as soon as I think. I'll post some more pics soon.

I always say to a beginner bodybuilder-its all about progression-if you don't hit the mark first time out,you go back to the drawing board and look for ways to make improvements. Even if you set a goal to compete in 18 months-that gives you enough time to break down your training and try some different nutritional ideas.

If you haven't already gone to a bodybuilding show, you should, so you know what to expect. And, the perfect one for you to go to is the 2008 NPC Northern Kentucky Bodybuilding and Figure Championship, in Covington, which will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2008. It's one of the largest shows in the Midwest. I have competed in this show twice and I recommend it.
