Anyone have this before? I think I have it. Oats are my FAVORITE carb source, but when I eat them now I get a runny nose and sweats. Then about 6 hours later I get gas from hell. Anyone have a similar experience and how can I get over this because I'm not willing to give them up!

sounds like you do have an allergy so you might need to make your own cereal and just not put oats in it.. I have a vegetarian friend and she swears by quinoa so I guess you could mix in some flax seeds and other nuts and see how you go with that? What about cream of wheat or rice? I get all bloated from wheat bread so I switched to spelt and I'm fine now.

I can eat other carbs and do like Brown Rice, etc. But I love the taste and the way oats fill me out.
Do you know if the allergy will go away in time. I know allergies in general are from an "over exposure" to things and I hope I can just take a break from them and go back.

I guess you could start out with really small amounts and see what happens-that way you'll know if you can't have any at all or your body may adapt. I'm not sure whether it will go away completely but you may be able to build up a degree of tolerance over time.

Get an allergy test at the doctor.

Most dr's can do an allergy test now through a simple blood draw, and not through the "scrape" torture that patients used to go trough.
Do you have any issues with bread, etc? or JUST oats.
The reason I ask is because of Celiac Sprue. It's the inability of the body to digest certain glutens. My wife has it and we have to monitor her carb intake in minutia.
On the upside I'm a world-class label reader now. ;D
