One of the great ones,Paul Grant died yesterday from kidney related problems.Paul was featured inthe movie Pumping Iron, and was a top competitor, always in the fray.He had won numerous class victories in the NABBA Mr. Universe and Mr. World contests. Two of his many titles were Mr. Britian and Mr. Europe.Another sad day for bodybuilding!

One tragedy on top of another. Very sorry to hear. With Ron Teufel's passing earlier on this year, this has been a sad time for the sport.

Gerry, I also heard today that Ron Thompson,Mr. America of 1974, died on Nov. 10th. of this year.He also won the titles of Jr.Mr.USA, Mr. USA, and Mr. World. At this rate ,unfortunately ,I could start an obituary category on the board. It`s a shame that these guy`s are dying so young! Thompson Tueful

First I heard about Ron Thompson. I remember him and liked his look.
Too true, Tim. These guys are dying way too young. Truly is sad.

Are drugs the reason for these early deaths?

I haven`t heard how Ron Thompson died, but Tueful dieed due to liver problems caused by alcoholism.Grant`s death was probably a direct result of steroid use but who`s to really say without official confirmation?

it's coming up one a year since Ronny passed. I just got news from a friend that still trains at Ed Ryans near Philadelphia that yet another of the CORE guys from back in the day has died Back in the 70's Ryan's was a hot spot for Pennsylvannia champs Ron Teufel - died last Dec due to alcohol Mark Shiavo - took his own life around 1980 I believe Frank Wainwright - shot in a ridiculous fight at a carwash and now.... Mike Sadler also due to alcohol sad news and tragic examples of why we all need to stay positive and focused. The iron centers me and I will remain close to it. f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/kenbaudoux/vwp?.dir=/public&.dnm=Ronny2.jpg&.view=t

I hear you Ken.I`m glad to be alive and able to train.Any pics of Frank Wainright? He was great.I met a guy in my old gym in Fla.that had a photo of himself and Frank in a show in Jersey. This guy was cool and I trained with him for four days out of the week he was in town visiting his family. He was a bit older than me but in great shape and strong to boot.

Here's Frank. I remember meeting him once at a contest at Mt. Park. He was in the audience cheering on his friend Doug Nagy.As I chated with him he kept shoving peanuts in his mouth, said they were a great source of protein.
