Just kidding about the ravioli!! ;D
Good luck on the 13th. also dude!
I wish I was competing this year,I usually do 4-5 contests a year but this is the first time I took a year off to try to get bigger and bring up weak points.
By the way, which organization is putting on the "Monster Mash"...the INBF ??

Tim,
Thanks alot! I'm excited, but don't feel as ready as I wish I did. I've worked really hard, I mean REALLY HARD! Just imagine, teaching full time, coaching football, working part time and training and dieting for a show. I also worked on my posing 3-4 days/week. I wanted to work on it ALOT more, but I just didn't have time. I needed to find time to sleep sometime ;D
I just hope I don't suck at posing and BLOW IT! I'm going to work on my posing alot more for the next show!

Kyle, you`ll do fine bro,it`s natural to have doubts ,even for guy`s who`ve done a ton of contests............beleive me !
Just do your best and look at thios one as a learning tool to referance for later shows.
You look great,so no one can take that away from you.
Get fired up dude, and give `em hell !!

Lots of luck, guys.
Kyle, you will do fine. If there is anyone who can videotape and send me a copy, I'd gladly review it to see what if anything might need to be tweaked for the next show.
Do your best and have a great time, guys.

Best of luck guys!
Tim - looking back, how do you feel about the time you've put in this year for improving, rather than competing? Are you getting the results you were looking for?

Boyd,I usually compete as a middleweight, where the weight cut off is 176 pounds, but I only weighed 163 for the majority of my shows.
This left me at a big disadvatage............. obviously.
My previous off-season weight was 178,now I fluctuate between 185 and 187 ,with just a minimal amount of added bodyfat, mostly in the waist area,so I think I can hit anywhere from at least 170 -175 next year as I`m not done yet.
So that would be 7-12 more pounds of muscle in contest condition, best case scenario, which is quite a bit.
Of course this is just projection on my part, but I hope to do it.
I`d like to hit around 200 pounds, before I diet, but it`s no biggie as I have tiny joints and a small frame.
So yes it has been a positive experience, and while I will still compete a few times a year,as it helps to keep me motivated,I will not do quite as many contests anymore.

I took second and stuck around after the show to ask the judges why not first? They said and I quote "it could have gone either way, the other guy's back was a little thicker." Then I asked if anything els I could work on and they said not really. ;D
I'll let hossjob a.k.a. (Kyle) tell you his part. But I will tell you I thought for his first show I was impressed with the way he looked.

Congratulations Carl,it sounds like it was a REAL close one!! I have been in 3 contests where I have been beaten by 1 lousy point! ;D As for Kyle,I saw on another board that he took his weight class in the novice division, which is awesome...........especially considering it was his first contest ever. Great job guy`s,and congrats again !!

Yes, Carl looked great! And yes, I won my Novice division. I was very pleased as there were 20 novice competitors. They broke us into 3 groups, but I won my class. I thought I looked good for not carbing up or cutting water. I'm trying some differentr things next weekend so it will be interesting how that comes out. I did think I deserved top 5 in the open middleweights, but, hey, it was my first show and by not placing it gave 2 other guys a chance to get some hardware, so no hard feelings!

Proud of you, Kyle. Winning your class in a debut show is a terrific achievement. And good job, Carl.
Future shows should go well for both of you.
