Woke up a bit late from my nap, as I set my alarm for 12:30am, not pm. I guess old age is already hitting me, and I haven't gotten through the day yet!!! :-\ But I met Fric and Frac at the gym, for Shock Day, and it was chest. I thought it was a pretty good one. Giant Set... Keiser Cable Crossovers: 20x12x2 Smith Incline Press: 135x12x2 Flat DB Flyes: 35x12x2 HS WG-BP: 135x12x2 After the first set, I could already feel my chest being gorged with blood. That lovely tightness, and outrageously taught feeling you only get that-as Arnold said in Pumping Iron- I feel like cu**ing..... Giant Set... HS Incline Press: 135x12x2 Incline Flyes (Extremely Wide arc, almost straight arms): 15x12x2 Smith Incline Press: 135x12x2 Dips: BWx12x2 Avenger Bench Press: 135x12, 115x12 These were brutal. I loved it too. Dropset... Decline Bench Press: 125x12 105x12 85x12 Danny really hates Dropsets, and Johnny being used to them still hates them. Which is precisely why I do them! ;D Up next on the menu, as "desert," is abs. Tri-Set: Hanging Leg Raises: bwx8x3 Keiser Crunches: 100x12x3 Incline Sit-Ups: bwx12x3 Superset: Knee-Ups: bwx12x2 Bicycle Kicks: bwx12x2 After getting the most insane feeling of a pump in my abs-which I attribute to doing the HLR's first- it was time for some cardio. Danny and Johnny didn't realize that I was now (again) raising the total time to 25min. Been doing 20min the last two weeks, and now it's time to change...but they just don't understand that you have to keep doing different things to achieve different results. "If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten!" I chose to start with the elliptical, and Johnny wanted to do it for 15min. Danny unknowingly told me that he wanted to do the stairclimber, so I ended with 10min on that. It was a lovely workout filled with sweat and maybe even a few tears!

Today, Danny and I were without Johnny, so it was somewhat peaceful. I didn't have to listen to them listen to each other bicker. They're okay by themselves, but paired up it's pretty rough. Today was good though. Onto Giant Sets for Back, and I pushed Danny and myself harder than before, using more exercises and different movements that we both hate. Giant Set #1.... Rack Chins: BWx12x2 Std. Nautilus Rows: 100x12x2 Inc. BB Rows: 60x12x2 Neutral Pull-Ups: BWxAMAP Keiser Rows: 85x12x2 Nautilus Pullovers: 100x12x2 The grip was giving way immediately. My lats were pumped, and I was having a hard time focusing. For once, I was actually taking a pause between exercises. Normally I bang them out one after another, but this time I was looking for peace somewhere outside the gym! Giant Set #2 Rack Deadlifts: 22x12x2 One Arm Smith Rows: 25x12x2 Rev. Pulldowns: 100x12x2 done facing away from the restraint, not referring to the grip Wide-Grip Std. Rows: 100x12x2 T-Bar Rows: 45xAMAP, 35xAMAP Hyper-extensions: bwx12x2 Hor. Leg Press Rows: 50x12x2 After these were done, Danny was falling on the floor from exhaustion! My goal was achieved! ;D Ironically, I was losing the pump faster by doing these, than I was getting it. Thanks to Tim, who reminded me about the One Arm Smith Machine Rows. Took some moving around to get the right angle/position, but eventually I found it. I still think I'm not leaning forward enough however. To the shoulders we go!!! 'Round the Worlds: 10x10x2 Man, these just get me every time. Nothing like 'em! Tri-Set: Laterals: 10x10x2 Front Raise: 10x10x2 Arnold Press: 10x10x2 All of the above were done on an incline bench. Added a much different stimulation to the shoulders. Read Delt Cable Flyes: 30x12 40x12 Sawa buddy of mine doing these. They're done by taking a rope attachment with a hook in the middle (something you would see in the 70's) and attach it, then just do your rear flyes standing towards the stack. Make sure to step away far enough as to not give your shoulders any rest. Finished up with 10min on the treadmill, and another 15 on the recumbent bike. I didn't feel like I was really burning too many calories on the bike, but my legs burning said otherwise.

Face pulls are similar, but I used a low pulley instead of the upper attachment, I liked it better and approximated the movements of the rear delt a bit more IMO.
Good whatever they're called!

Arm Day, and I was stoked about trying to see what I could do to get Laurel and Hardy to give up! I almost got them to on the second Giant Set- it doesn't need too much explanation as to why however.
Giant Set #1...
CG-BP: 185x12x2 Inc. DB Curls: 30x12x2 Magnum Tri-Extensions: 45x12x2 BB Spider Curls: 50x12x2 Keiser Parallel Dips: 225x12x2 St. Alt. DB Curls: 35x12x2 Adams Extensions: 20x12x2 Rev. BB Curls: 50x12x2
Man, the last couple exercises were hard due to the blood in my forearms. Hard to grip, and painful too. I tried switching up grips on the Rev. Curls first set- but mustered through the second set but absolutely almost dropped a la Ed Corney due to the pump/pain/blood. :-\
Giant Set #2...
Wide-Arc OH Cable Extensions: 70x12, 110x12 Rope Pressdowns: 80x12x2 One Arm Rev. Cable Pressdowns: 25x12x2 Rev. St. Bar Pressdowns: 40x12x2 CG-BP (super-slow squeezing): 135x12x2 (222 Tempo) St. DB Curls: 30x12x2 Magnum Preacher Curls: 35x12x2 One Arm DB Preacher Curls: 20x12, 20xAMAP Smith Drag Curls: 0x12x2 Concentration Curls: 20x12x2
This is where they wanted to kill me, and/or give in! We did this set twice without stopping! Soon as we finished triceps, we went to biceps, and thinking they got a rest, we immediately went back to triceps!!! They complained about no rest- and I told them they got their rest while doing biceps. ;D Which is true. But, as I always say when they complain.... "I'm right alongside you goons doing the same thing, with more weight and you don't hear me complaining do you? I do this to myself!!!"
Straight Set:
Triceps Pushdowns: 150x12
St. BB Curls: 95x12
Onto Abs....
Hanging Leg Raises: BWx12, BWx10x2
Swiss Ball Crunches: BWx12x2
Keiser Rope Crunches: 35x12, 45x12
Finished off the workout with 10min on the elliptical, which I may have done all 25min on. But I switched up to a 15min walk on the treadmill, because the gym talk-o-holic was about to do his cardio next to us. To give an idea what this guy can be like- Yesterday we were doing Rack Chins, and in the middle of the set, he came over and asked what that was for. I replied "Lats, like a pull-up." So he says "oh, I get it. And your abs too." With a puzzled look on my face as I continue my giant set, I said "No, lats." At that point I proceed to ignore him, but I'm running to my next exercises and I hear him trying to justify to my Danny and I how that exercise is a direct stimulus to the abs....... <sigh> #smileycoffee9lo#

Man, I'm BEAT. #aseeingstars5gt# After a long 10 hour day, I come home and ate (not some of the most nutritious food, but filled with energy and tasted like HEAVEN), rested for a whole 10min, and off to the gym I went. Probably, by far, the most brutal Giant Set scheme I've ever done for legs. Giant Set #1... BB Lunges: 135x10x2 Front Squats: 135x10x2 Wide-Smith Squats: 95x12x2 One-Leg Extensions: 35x10x2 Smith Rev. Lunges: 25x12x2 I was in absolute pain, near the end of the second set. During the second set of Front Squats, after rep 3 I was having to take a good 10 deep breathes between each rep. I was breathing like a freight train, and at one point you could just feel the sweat just come on like I had turned a switch. BAM- I'm sweating like a pig. At one point I was looking up and my friend said I was wobbling all over the place....I was on the Smith Machine!!!! Giant Set #2... Sissy Squats: 135x10x2 Hack Squats: 135x12x2 Rev. Lunges: 0x12x2 Leg Press: 0x12x2 Crab Leg Smith Squats: 0x12x2 Again, I was in trouble from the get go. Sweating, breathing, you name it and I was feeling it. Got through all my sets/reps though, and once done I just about passed out on the floor. Too bad either of my partners were there to witness it! ;D Tri-Set... Keiser One Leg Curls: 100x10x4 Rope Pull-Throughs: 50x10x4 Std. Leg Curls: 100x10x4 I tried out the Pull-Throughs today, and I liked them. Certainly takes a really strong mind/muscle connection though. I had to think the hams were doing the work, and every rep I had to focus on. However, it paid off, and not even deadlifts give a similar feeling-very unique for sure. Keiser Std. Leg Curls: 100x10, 110x10x4 Just straight sets here to even out the amount of sets I did for quads. Standing Calf Raises: 120x8x4 An arcane machine, with horrible leverage. 120# seems like it's at least 1200lbs!!!! Std. Calf Press: 155x15x3 Just a good pump in the lower calves.... Keiser Calf Press: 500x10x3 Good stretch, but this exercise is really to hit the midrange motion of the calf- at least how I do them. Donkey Calf Raises: 500x8x2 Just to finish off my calves, and again even out the total set number a bit more. Plus, I was getting pretty tired, and wanted to hit the road-however I still had my cardio to do.... 15min on the treadmill, on "random" mode. Just walked, pretended I was sane and not out of miy mind. Asking myself "Why do I do this?" Well, because I love it! And finished with 10min on the bike, upright this time. I barely had any tension on the belt, though every few minutes I bumped it up here and there. I"m off to bed..... #bsleepingsmiley4vu# #bsleepingsmiley4vu# #bsleepingsmiley4vu# #bsleepingsmiley4vu# #bsleepingsmiley4vu# #bsleepingsmiley4vu# #bsleepingsmiley4vu#

Today was Chest day, and it was a good one. My strength was there, but not quite up to what it usually is- due to the lack of calories and the amount of energy I'm expending. Flat DB Press: 115x6 120x6 120x4 Lost my groove on the second set at rep #3, but I got it back, and was able to complete all six. Danny had never seen me lift that amount prior- he actually clapped after I was done with my first set of 120's. Smith Incline Press: 225x6x3 Nothing special here. But I wanted to change up my incline movement a bit, and due to the calorie issue, I "just wanted to push." No balance today! Magnum Flat BB Machine: 315x12 405x8 This machine is ridiculously easy. So, 405 was pretty easy for me. Traps...... Smith Machine Shrugs: 225x12x4 Alternated with Hanging Leg Kicks (aka Frog Kicks): BWx10x4 My abs felt great- better than HLR's, not sure why. But I think it could be due to the crunch movement at the top. Keiser Wtd. Crunches: 100x12x3 Weighted Machine Crunches: 80x12 100x12 Ball Exchange: 8x12x3 I called in my order a bit too early, so I found myself doing extra work to pass time. I finished my workout with cardio- 15min on the elliptical. Then, getting a bit bored with the usual cardio I do, I decided to shock Danny and Johnny and do Farmers Walks. ;D 10min, of alternating walking with 60lbs DB's. They're weren't too happy after even the second pass, and I think we ended up doing about 15 passes each. It was about 12min total, and I did the extra couple of minutes because we were sitting down quite a bit- though they weren't exactly breathing easy.
