At the USA, weighed in at 228, 2 lbs more than last week and more cut and harder.

Lookin good James! Your arms look massive! thanks Joel! I think at one point,, they were 19 3/4 cold, pumped well over 20. But I was up against some guys who had 22's.. So you can guess where my mind is going towards this offseason..

I think that I want to be closer to 240 next year, I look too linear at under 230. Im 230 today, and Im going to stay within 10 lbs of contest shape while gaining lean muscle over the next year so I don't have to do 2 hours of cardio again.

I think thats a good idea, its much easier to get into contest shape if you don't get too far out of condition. I've always did better if I stay within a reasonable distance of my contest weight.

Looking at your pics- I thought you might be leaner- do you want 10lbs more total weight or net 10lbs plus a decrease in bf%?

Looking at your pics- I thought you might be leaner- do you want 10lbs more total weight or net 10lbs plus a decrease in bf%? I try to get more ripped each time out. I dieted longer (23 weeks) than any previous show. For some reason, my body stopped responding for a while ( either due to some prescription meds@ Im on which cause weight gain, age, or just trying to do the keto thing too long. Hence the 2 hours of cardio, which cost me muscle mass. I am going to figure it out in the off season. Im staying on the conservative side on diet, but training even heavier and better, Im planning to add 15 lbs of quality muscle, then shred it up, hence the 240 lb figure. Im 234 today............................BACK-------------------------------------------Deadlift in rack- lowest rung w/u bar x 15, 135 x5, 225 x5, 315 x 5 - these were all 'raw', no straps, no belt, 405 x 3, 425 x1, 445 x1, 475 x1. From knee level- 495 x4, 585 x 4, 675 x3 - grip problem, 765 x 3, 855 x 1! - none to failure, but very strong!........ Deadlift on HAMMER shrug 5 pl a side (475) x1 , 6 ( 565) plx 2, 7 pl ( 655) x 1 8 pl, (745x 1 8 pl + 35 a side 815 x 2!, ... ......... Hammer shrugs 865x 6, 965 x 5, 1015x 4. Bb rows wu 135, 225, 315. 405x1 to gauge strength , 425x 4.- up 20 lbs over last wo. ... Hammer pulldowns wu 2 pl a side, 3 pl, 4 pl, 5 pl x 2 + 2 FR ea arm. ---- -------------DELTS-- Smith Overhead Press 1 pl a sie, 2pl) 2pl + 25 ( 230 in plates) x 2 RP, drop 2 pl+ 10 ea side x 2 Rp. 2 pl + 35 ( 250 in pl) x1 + 1 neg! .. BB upright rows 135, 225 x 5, 250 x 6! 275 x 4! ........................................ BICEPS..............BB Curls wu 135x5 , 155x1, 175x 1, 185 x 1 205 x 4. ........................ Great workout, very strong, carbs really helped, looking much thicker, albeit puffier (water due to all the carbs). BW 234 before wo.

Great workout James! Hey I checked out the super heavy wt. winner in your show, Ed Nunn. He won the overall in my last show, he was using it I guess as a warmup for the Nationals last year. Just blew everybody away! Super nice guy though, I talked to him backstage. Geez he is bigg!!
Yeah, you might have over done the keto diet. The way I do it and alot of the other guys on this board is to carb up every 3-5 days so that you don't get totally depleted. I go 3 days low carbs and carb up on the 4'th. I seem to get a drop in bodyfat after each cycle. I try to deplete my carb stores without actually going into ketosis. Just diet till I feel like I'm getting flat and then carb up. It seems to keep me from losing muscle.
