I haven't kept a journal here during my prep for multiple reasons. Ya'll know I've been busy so that's the reason I was absent for a while, but to be honest, I feel as if I've been putting so much physical, mental, and emotional focus into this show, I just do'nt feel like sharing much about the journey. I'm going to try to start a journal here and chronicle the next 2 weeks.

Friday - the plan was to do arms, but knowing I wanted to do some BIG time posing on Sunday, I did legs today. Also, I wanted to hit legs 1 more time before this show since I will not train them after the Chicago show (in relation to the Florida show). I did not go balls to the wall. I wasn't feeling well and I'm very tired. Having a hard time breathing today.
DB Lunges - 35/12, 45/9, 45/7 Front Squat - 155/10, 155/9, 155/8 1-Leg HS Ext - 35/10, 35/10, 35/8 (2/2/2/2 tempo) SLDL - 135/12, 155/10, 155/10 (2/1/2/1 tempo) 1-Leg HS Leg Curl - 45/12, 45/10, 45/8 (2/1/2/2 tempo) Power Runner (Like butt blaster - 90 lb ea leg) - 12, 12 Reverse Hypers - BW+15/10 Drop + 6

Thanks guys. Today, haha, classic case of "do'nt open your mouth..." I was telling Kristy how this keto (Palumbo's) diet I'm doing is great because I normally don't get hungry or have cravings and I have'nt had any hunger pains or hypoglycemic feelings. Well......I'm having my first one. Had to delay training till I get my next meal. Not bad for being on the diet since early/mid July!

Monday, 10/29: 5 days out from the NPC Midstates Classic. It's a national qualifier in Rockford, IL. Not that that means much to me.
Here is some retroactive info, so the current "blog" I'm writing willmake since: Saturday, 10/20 I competed. I was 155 lbs. 1/2 a pound off of making lighthweights. The Sunday before (10/14) an dMOnday before (10/15) I was 162 pounds respectively. The water manipulation worked AWESOME...I was DRY to teh bone especially from the waist up in the back and my quads were as dry as ever. I looked at some more pics and I was very happy. I was a bit flat however and because of this I was going to begin my carb up a day earlier (on Thurs instead of Fri).
After eating a bunch of GREAT tasting food Saturday after the show and enjoying more cashews and Nat PB than I should have on Sunday, it took til Friday for me to get my body restabalized. I got back down to about 162/3 Friday to Saturday. Yeseterday I did a fat load day and went to bed at 165. My idea was still to do the carb load on Thurs/Fri. However, thismorning I woke up at 160. What does thismean you ask?
1) I think if I deplete (protein only) Mon-Thurs & complete the drying out/water manipulation just as I did for 10/20 I can get down to light weight. 2) Friday I did fats, Saturday deplete, Sunday fats. Sunday night, at 165, I was VERY VERY FULL. I looked HUGE. I'm thinking that if I deplete, then fat load on Thursday w/ no carbs and fat load w/ carbs on Friday, I should be abel to get the same effect. 3) Cutting water + the fat load, followed by a carb load/fat load on Friday should allow me to get down to 154. I'm 2 pounds less today than I was the Monday before the last show.
My only reservation is that I won't be able to get as full as I was last night. I'm highly thinking of carbing up on white potatos for the first 3meals on Friday and yams on the last 3. Saturday morning I'll weigh myself before the actual weigh in and decide what my game plan is from there. If I'm 154 or close to the cut off I will probably not eat anything til after I weigh in. This causes some very BIG problems...however, I don't thik I've ever "nailed" my conditioning (I came CLOSE last year at this very show). If this is the case, I'll have to carb "hard" and "careful" to try to get full and not "spill" over.
I'll try to post my entire PLAN later today or tonight. I'll post 2 tracks: 1) if I'm close to the cutoff and can't eat when I rise, 2) If I'm over the cutoff or 2-3 pounds under and CAN eat

Tuesday, 10/30
Yesterday I did 40-min of cardio in the AM I trained chest in the afternoon. Nothing crazy, but I hit it pretty hard. My strength is starting to suffer, but that's expected when you've dieted on 0 carbs 16 weeks and have done 2 sets of cardio per day for the last 6-8. Plus being depleted from doing a show and only a few days out from another. Incline Bench Press - 205/6, 205/5, 205/4 (4/2/X) - slow negative, stretch pause...noticed that my stamina was SHOT! Low Inc DB Fly - 50/6, 45/6, 45/7 (2/4/1) - Stretch PAUSE!!!! Hammer Strenght Iso Chest Press - 140/28, 140/23 (piston like - PUMPING BLOOD)! Light posing + DC Stretch 35/45 sec.
This morning I was tighter and dryer than yesterday and about 1.5 pounds lighter. I was between 158 and 159. The cool thing was I was CONSIDERABLY fuller thismorning than yesterday morning. Hopefully, unless I really put on weight during carb up, I'll have no problem making teh light weights!
Today I have back, 2 sets of cardio (bout 40 min each of low intensity), complete posing practice, and I have to finish my routine.

Thanks Carl, Tim, GerryT!
I just read Joel's journal and I"m almost embarrassed to type in here. I did part of my cardio today at 2:30-3:00 PM. I was so tired. I felt I could barely move. Then, because of my schedule I had to train back. It was pretty much WORTHLESS! I never have worthless back workouts. I thought I was going to vomit, pass out, fall asleep. It was horrible. NO ENERGY. Don't know what the hell it was...
I did some lat pull Downs, 1-Arm HS Iso Rows, Rev Grip HS Pull Down, and overhand Machine Rows. I concentrated on squeeze and wen tjust short of failure. Oh boy...I'm disappointed, worst workout I've had in a long time.
Gotta get some more cardio in tonight and some posing.
3 more full days til the next show!

Kyle, You've got nothing to be embarressed about my man! Your training is intence brother and you're getting this dieting thing down to a science! I had no idea that you were a light weight! You look a lot bigger than 155! My god man the weights you're moving at your bdwt. are incredible! Keep up the good work and go get that pro card!

Thanks Joel. I've NEVER competed lightweight, but I've always been one of the lightest heavies. Last year at my last show I was 162. Took 2nd to a guy that was 175. Last show (a few weeks ago), I missed lightweight by 1/2 pound. I'm hoping to dial that half pound back and then to carb up HARDER after weigh ins.
I've always been nautrally strong. When I was training for power/strength I put up some impressive numbers. In fact since I promisedKristy I'd take over a year off of competing with having a child, I am thinking about dabbling in some power lifting and settingmy weight around 170-175, where I was my strongest ever about 3 years ago.

Wednesday, 10/31 (HALLOWEEN!)
I was 158.5 again today and I looked VERY VERY DRY! I was extremely happy wiht my look thismorning. I have been POUNDING water and using sodium but this week I jsut keep getting DRYER and DRYER. Very happy. My glutes are slowly starting to dial in....not striations liek Joel, but definitely muchleaner than ever before.
Today is my last deplete day. I'm going to hit arms and about 30 min cardio w/ some posing and finish my posing routine. My lelgs are looking pretty good, but very flat...
I'm vascular through my abs and hit region...LIKE crazy and my 4arms are vascular as well...but that's it...I just seem to lack vascularity...kind of sucks.

Cool. Thanks Keith. I've definitely seen an increase in muscle density. Hell, I'll compete at almost 10 pounds lighter than last year and I think I look bigger. Much more dense. It's crazy.
