Opinion before i buy (Steeve and others)?

Hi Steeve!

Thank for all the great reviews you post here!

I would like to know what you would suggest if i'm looking for those two kinds of video:

1) A motivation DVD that shows a years or something like that in the life of a pro bodybuilder in preparation for a contest. In this DVD i would like to see training sequences, life style and music sequences and maybe at the end the contest results...

2) An informative Video (or book) where the bodybuider (s) talks about the diet, the training and his contest preps few days before a show!

My recommendation for a book is Jay Cutler's CEO muscle, its awesome and covers everything.

As far as a video, even though I haven't seen it yet, I've heard great things about Skip Lacour's training DVD. which I may be purchasing soon.

Go to skip's web site and he details everything. Supposedly his dvd shows his training, then he goes back through his training with explanations. Nutrition is covered and so is a little bit about his lifestyle. Skip is super dedicated and can teach anyone alot about the sport. But I have yet to watch it.


Of all the dvd's/videos I've watched my favorites are

Ronnie Coleman's Unbelievable and Cost of redemption
Denis James Back to Basics
Dorian yates blood and guts
Markus Ruhl made in Germany

Ruhls dvd is in my opinion the best

Its split into several segmants The first segmant is training with several differant segmants intertwined one about nutrition, contest history, lifestyle, guest spots, seminars, and such. Training excerts are in between these small segmants.
Then you can watch the full training segmants (filmed in black and white). Its more extensive training segmants then when you watch with the other segmants in between.

Also the music and voice over is really great. Mostly euro techno stuff playing in the gym while he trains but it really works.

There is a bonus section in which we see private video footage of Ruhl during his prep for his NOC win, his trip to vegas, his room in Italy for the maximus show.

Ruhl has an excellant sense of humor and his dvd is very entertaining.

Wow Steeve this answer is more than i was expected! Thanks a lot!

So you would recommend Jay Cutler's book even more that the pre-contest bible? If so, i'll fallow your advice and buy Cuttler's book rather than the bible like i was planned to do!

And The Ruhl's DVD seems to be good but the only thing is that i'm not a fan of that physique! Should it stop me from buying it? Is the Dexter Jackson's DVD can be compare with Ruhl's DVD? (I dont think...)

PS: I already have Cost of redemption and Blood and guts and i agree, those are very good!

Both books are extremely good in their own way. Bible is specifically for all phases of contest prep.

Jay's is more general and covers all phases of BB as well as some biographical material.

Both are well worth having.

P.S. Think the Ruhl DVD is incredible. Fan of his or not, much motivation and inspiration can be drawn from it.

Dexters DVD is pretty good too, but it's not as entertaining as Markus' although if your into his physique you'll dig it.

the most motivational DVD for me has always been Pumping Iron...what sticks in my mind the most is when Arnold is doing low cable rows....he just keeps going and going and going....I would think about that while training to motivate me to get extra reps.
a good book, but kinda old school, is Sliced by Jayde Reynolds. This book covers everything. If your planning on doing a carb cyceling diet this book may be a good choice for you.

I agree Kitten, Pumping Iron is THE motivational DVD... but Rocky IV is not far away ;D

WOuld like to get a copy of the women's Pumping Iron. That was also extremely good.

I saw Pumping Iron in '77 when I was 17 year old youngster!! I then went out and bought the book "Pumping Iron"---- it's been a love affair that's only gotten stronger over the years!

I actually just watched that again last week. You can't help but feel bad for Bev while watching it tho...

Bev was ahead of her time and certainly blazing new trails. Been seeing her at the NY shows she and Steve promote and she looks terrific.

She turned 50 but doesn't look it. Props to her.
