Just read about Fred Hale, an elderly man who died yesterday of pneumonia. He was twelve days shy of his 114th birthday!! (He had more years than Tim and I combined!!)
Amazing that he collected Social Security for 48 years and saw his favorite baseball team, the Red Sox, win the World Series in 1918 and 2004!
He was still living alone up to age 103, shoveling snow off his walkway and going for walks when weather permitted. He lived in Syracuse, NY, which gets more than its share of snow!
He moved in with his grandson 10 years ago and died in a nursing facility. A remarkable man who apparently lived a remarkable life!
Hope we can all live that well!

Wow,that`s incredible Gerry,I`m not far from Syracuse....hopefully it`s something in the water up here!!
Then again ,if I lived that long, that is just that much longer that I would have to put up with the age jokes!! ;D

i think there is a pattern here...my roommate's grandma is 85+ years old, and was able to move a couch by herself (her adult granddaughter and my roommate together weren't able to do it themselves)...they had even started to call me over to help them move it when they were like "oh, nm, nana did it"...she walks damn near everywhere (in the range of 4-5 miles at a time)...oh btw, she is also a POW camp survivor!

LOL, Tim!! And Sock, I'm 3 years older than Tim (my middle name is Methuselah!). So Tim is not the world's oldest man! Which is why he added me to the Mods, so he wouldn't have the distinction!
Hope it's in the downstate water also! But honestly, would only want to live as long as I can be self sufficient and productive. There is a huge difference between living and existing!
God bless both of those ladies. They illustrate what I was saying about living!!

Gerry,I added you as a mod for way better reasons than that ,but is good to know at least one person on the planet is older than me!! Sock, and LC,those people are incredible!! My grandparents lived into their mid to late 80`s but my parents both died young. Whenever the good Lord decides to take me, I`ll know that I lived a hell of a life, that`s for damn sure..........,,but I ain`t rushing things at all.

I'll bet that if you added the ages of Gerry "Father" Time and Tim Van Winkle, the number would be greater than my current weight, lol...don't worry though; I know you ain't getting any younger, but I AM getting leaner!

Another whippersnapper!! Sock, the combined age of Tim and me is 102 (within 3 weeks anyway). So you must be emaciated!! ;D Small even for bantams!! Another secret, none of us are getting any younger. Just that the youngsters don't feel it as acutely as us mature guys (Tim. sounds better than old!).

[/quote] lol, ok so you're about half my weight... and you're right, I DON'T feel like i'm aging...sheesh, after I get a haircut, I actually look a few years younger, so anytime I feel old, I suppose I can just pop into the barber's!
