Well my friends, My wife of 31 years, Bernie, is 10 days out from the FIRST USAPL RAW NATIONALS in St. Louis, MO. The current roster stands at 173 athletes from 32 different states with some traveling from distant locations such as Alaska and Germany! This is a great turnout for a first year meet. The INTIMIDATOR (as I call her!), will be going for a new total PR this meet. She has had a nerve impingement in her right bicep which has been problematic, but she has been seeing an excellent PT weekly. She looked strong and confident in the gym on Monday, and was cranking out her squat like it was butter on a hot day..... SMOOTH!  She WILL be doing the full power meet, which means all 3 lifts: Squat, Bench and Deads. Our Trainer, Greg Page told her Monday night, "Well....looks like you're in the MEET!" This is Bernie's 2nd National Meet. She placed 2nd in the OPEN (against collegiate athletes) and 2nd in Masters last October in Denver CO. Not bad for 50 years old. Her diet is tight, her training is on-point, and her head is definitely in the game! She is most certainly a force to be reckoned with.I predict we will be bringing home some more hardware again this year! So, keep her in your thoughts as she ventures forth into making history at this inaugural event, the VERY FIRST USAPL RAW NATIONALS July 25th to the 27th, 2008. We are " IN IT TO WIN IT!" Yea! It's actually been longer than that. That is only how long we've been married.
We met when we were 12 years old at our Martial Arts School. (Bernie has a 2nd Degree Black Belt, and I have a 6th Degree Black Belt).
The first time I saw her, I told a friend, "I'm going to marry that girl someday!" (Circa 1970) .....And I did!
We dated, went "steady", got engaged, and married when we were 19.
We are very fortunate (patient/tolerant!), to have a great marriage.
So yes...she HAS put up with my sh_t for a long time!!! ;D

Well tomorrow morning we leave for St Louis for Bernie to compete in the Inaugural USAPL RAW Nationals. The line up is great and should be a great weekend.
Bernie has an OUTSTANDING shot of winning first place.
This morning I presented her with a pendant to wear around her neck of a 3/4 inch 45 pound plate for good luck!
The best part of that is that after negotiating with the supplier, Gym Gems, they have committed to becoming Bernie's FIRST SPONSOR!!!!! Her picture will be on the front of their web page soon!
So off we go to St Louis......I will update when I can, and send pics as soon as possible............

Still in St. Louis...and it's ALL OVER!!!
Bernie won 1st Place in Womens Masters at the Inaugural USAPL RAW Nationals. Proud Gold Medalist!
She did GREAT! New Pr's in Squat and Deadlift, equating to a new Total PR too, which was her goal for this meet.
The judging was TOUGH, and they were not giving out any gifts at this one. LOTS of red lights for squat depth, etc. These are ALL National Judges, and they don't play.
She did tweak her arm on the bench press, so it looks like we'll be visiting the Doc on our return to Cleveland, but she pulled right through it!
I'll try to post some pics and numbers once we return home.
So for now...it's out to the pool and a little R&R.
More to come when we return home!!!!
