What kind of, um, "oral favors" do these shoes come with for that price tag?!?!? Not a bad looking shoe, probably great comfort for lifting....but $180?!?!? Asinine!!!

I seem to remember Otomix squatting shoes were at least $100 a few years ago. Heh- I should get the red ones just for fun... come to think of it though- I bet my new gym would let me squat barefoot... the old place would not.

I don't care for "weightlifitng" shoes. I don't think Nike is really up to speed on this yet. Here is the site where I bought my shoes, as recommended by my trainer. www.safe-usa.com/Powerlifting/shoes.htmMine are the white $189.00 shoes by Safe. I thought the price was crazy too. I NEVER spent that much on a shoe before, but I'm here to tell ya, THIS shoe makes a difference. They are legal for PL meets. I used to have a bad habit of leaning forward, but this shoe corrected that. Like any piece of equipment, it's an investment, and you'll get a lot of use out of them. I only use this shoe to SQUAT in, that's all. They are stiff, and are meant to be that way. I have an old school wrestling shoe for bench pressing which allows flexibility on my set up. I use this shoe for my deads too. Old school "Chuck Taylors" are a good idea too. Last but not least, I do give Nike credit for thier runnig shoes. I have a pair of Shox, that breathe really well, and keep my feet cool for treadmill. I'm on my second pair because I actually "blew-out" one of the Shox! The shoe you show appears to have a padded heal. Probably not a good idea because it will absorb your power in your squat, possible cause you to lean forward, and you won't feel the ground in your other lifts, IMO. Good luck, and let us know what you decided! Frank

I own a pair of black Otomix shoes, bought them about 5 years ago, maybe a bit less. Those cost me $120 if I recall correctly. Still using them to this day, mainly just leg days. But in the past I've used them for legs and Back day too. If the Nike shoes could make it for a half a decade like the Otomix I have, they might be somewhat worth it. I'd still like to see them lower the cost though. Special Olympic shoe or not.... I am not paying that much for a pair of shoes I wouldn't wear more than 2x a week.

Those are pretty cool. I do love my Otomix though. I've got two pair of the Extreme's and one pair is about 6 years old. About 100 bucks a pair. I'd have a harder time shelling out $180 but they probably will last for years.

In fact, I'm surprised that it took so long to Nike before launching this product! I mean, to register in a gym and workout is a very important trend since the end of the 90's so the opportunity to sell a product like this was there all that time... to bad I didn't have anyone to help me financing a project like that a couple of years ago :-)
