I'll have Bernie in my thoughts! I know the surgery is going to be alright. But Frank, don't forget that during her recovery you'll have to prepare her breakfast, give her massages, do the dishes, the laundry... etc.

If my 66 year old dad can have both shoulders done, Bernie will fly through this.

Bernie’s surgery which had been scheduled for today, Wednesday morning, has been postponed until Monday, August 18th.
We had JUST arrived home from the hospital for pre-op testing, and the house phone was ringing. It was the surgeon’s office saying that there is a meeting at the hospital in the morning, delaying all the surgeries one hour.
Since Bernie’s surgeon had another surgery scheduled in Geauga County at 10:00, they decided to postpone Bernie’s surgery until Monday.
Bureaucracy? Priorities?.....B.S. if you ask me!
So now she waits. Uncomfortable, stressed, etc.
I think the surgeon and I will have words very soon.

That does bite, Frank. Happened to me once. You are all mentally prepared for it, and now more waiting. Physically and emotionally it is a bummer . I will definitely light a candle for Bernie this weekend. Hope she can hang in there.

Just saw this post. Frank everything happens for a reason. This just means the surgeon will be well rested from the weekend, so He will do a better job. Tell Bernie to hang in there.

Bernie's surgery went well today. She is at home resting. The Doc took some pics through the scope to show us the damage. The only surprise we had was that he used an anchor screw to hold the rotator cuff together. When he places the anchor screw in, he ties a "tether" to it and pulls to make sure it's secure.
Well, when he pulled the anchor, it popped right out. So he used a different type of anchor, and now it's fine.
The concern is, Why did the anchor pop out so easily?
The Doc hypothesis is that it could be early signs of osteoporosis, or it could be symptomatic from her Lupus, OR we may just need to kick up her calcium, due to the way she absorbs nutrients differently since her gastric bypass surgery.
We go back to see the surgeon tomorrow, to change the dressings, and talk about the anchor problem.
She's resting comfortably at home, and is chomping at the bit to get back to the gym. The Doc says 6 months before resuming competitive lifting.
I'm being a good little "house nurse"! (NO...I don't wear a nurses outfit, so you perves can stop what you're thining!) LOL!
