My 10 year old son and I were watching the Olympic triathlon and he was IMMEDIATELY transfixed. He thought it was the greatest thing he ever saw, and he wanted to do one. I told him I once did a little (really little) one, and he was FULL of questions about it.
So I told him he could try one, that I'd do it with him, and APPARENTLY I told him we could do it this weekend. LOL. I kinda forgot and had a lot of school prep work planned for this weekend. When he asked me about it I said we wouldn't be able to do it this weekend because I had a lot of work to do, and he was really disappointed. He said, and I quote "I've been really looking forward to it all week. But if you have to work I guess we can do it next weekend."
Argh. No Cats in the Cradle for THIS Dad. We did it today.
15 lengths of a 25m pool. 5 laps around the track on the bike. 3 laps running around the track.
Only I didn't finish the run. My right knee is so buggered that after one lap I was limping like a wimp. He finished it though.
He was SOOOO happy. Should have heard him during the "transition" from pool to bike. I can't even describe how pleased he was that we were just throwing on a shirt and jumping into shoes. Then he SPRINTED out of the pool building and jumped on his bike. He also sprinted his last lap running, and crossed the finish with his hands raised in victory.
I love that kid.

Very cute Rich Hehe! He's been looking forward to hit ALL WEEK! There is so many kids not interested in any sport and there is so many video games waiting for them... it's a good thing that you didn't wait for too long before doing it... he could have changed his mind! PS: Who finished first? Don't you have too much muscle mass to do a triathlon? ;D
