That's about all I have to say without seeing the finals photos.

Oh wait! I do have something to say..... Maybe this will help end the "GIMME" award to the previous champ that started with Dorian and kept going wth Coleman.
Let the best physique on that day win not give the incumbent extra credit simply because he won it last year.

I think you are really offbase here Jeremy. I never heard jay say "gimme" and has been a class act, including last nights announcement of Dexter winning- from the second Dexter's name was announced, Jay was very congratularoy to Dex.

I maybe said it wrong - not intending it to sound like Jay was expecting it to be simply given to him but that the judges usually just give it to the reigning champ. I have nothing but positve things to say about Cutler - it's the judging that has been suspect for too many years. Jeremy

I hear what you're saying Jeremy. Judging at the Olympia has been off course in my opinion for a number of years and just giving the title to the reigning champion is ridiculous! Each year everybody needs to start with a clean slate. I think second place was a gift for Jay, I would not have had him in the top six.
Dennis Wolf looked fantastic! He's my current favorite but Dexter is a deserving winner no doubt. Phil Heath and Tony Freeman are great also.
I am just soooo tired of looking at the big bloated waistlines that alot of these guys have! Hopefully this will be the wave of the future.

Dexter had an incredible year. He is now the only athlete besides Ronnie Coleman to win the Arnold and Olympia in the same year.
He nailed his conditioning better than he ever has and the win was deserved. As much as I like and admire Jay, he did not bring his best to the stage. The Jay of 2001, 03 or 06 probably would have won. He really should have been 5th or 6th. But he remains a champ and class act.
Phil Heath got the highest placing ever for an Olympia debut (except Larry Scott of course), and Silvio deserved better. he was almost as conditioned as Dexter.
Dexter deserved it and props to him!!
And also congrats to David Henry for winning the 202 showdown at the O.

NICE! From the pictures I saw and from the bodybuilding criterias I know, it looks like a well deserved first place... and that's going to be beneficial for the sport!
By the way, the complete top 5 looks AMAZING... no gift this year, just some deserved placings!
I'm gonna watch the show replay on bodybuilding.com this week!

Last I heard is that Jay is considering giving it another try next year. So we will see.
09 should be an even deeper event, with Victor Martinez, Kai Greene and Branch Warren (all of whom were not able to compete due to injury) back on stage for the O. Do not think any of them would have trouble re qualifying.

It was a real shocker for sure. Years ago I lost my interest in pro bodybuilding because it was just so much BS and there were too many times where I saw blatant examples of the wrong competitor winning. I NEVER would have dreamed that Jay would lose this one, even though I knew there were guys who should be placing ahead of him. It's almost enough to make me interested in IFBB again. Here is a cool page where you can make your own Olympia callouts. I spent a long time comparing the top guys! www.ifbbpro.com/2008olympiacallout/

I agree with you Rich!
By the way, I like the link you gave us to compare the athletes! I had fun comparing almost all of them... but there's one thing we need to remember; These pictures don't take into consideration the height of the bodybuilders, so Dave Henri is as tall as Toney Freeman, which can distort reality when we want see who's the best!!!

Thinking the same thing, Mo. Toney is 8 or 9 inches taller than Dave and also Ronny Rockel, so that does make a difference. very interesting site, nonetheless!

Im glad he won. I saw him at the big shows in the summer and he looked very good. Jay seems soft in the arms these days, what's up with that? PS the highest Olympia debuts besides Scott were Poole, Arnold, Mentzer and Yates all in second. May have been one or two others, can't recall offhand.
