Well, I won the Master's division at the Bluegrass Classic! I placed second in the light heavy wt. class, I think I could've just as easily have taken that class also.
It wasn't a large contest but there were some quality competitors there. 9 guys in the master's and 5 light heavy. The winner of the overall (heavy wt.) was a freak for sure! Where do these guys come from?? Their were competitors from surrounding states there. It was unique that it was held in the Thoroughbred Center where they actually auction Thoroughbred horses! I live in Kentucky which is the horse capital and there are lots of horse farms and beautiful countryside in the Lexington area.
The promotor was Richard "Tricky" Jackson who was just in the Mr. Olympia. He is from the Lexington area. He guest posed and also had special guest poser Dareem Charles! These are two of the best posers in pro bodybuilding both extremely entertaining to watch.
There are supposed to be pics on bodybuilding.com but they were not up yet of this morning. My wife got lots of good pics though so I promise I'll have them up ASAP!
Pigged out some last night, I had a giant cheeseburger and fries about 12:00 last night and we stopped at a Waffle House on the way home this morning (2 waffles, hashbrowns, eggs, bacon).Got that out of my system! Its back on the diet this evening!
4 weeks until the Kentucky Muscle!

Really proud of you, Joel! You obviously did everything right! Congrats on a great win and wish more success in 4 weeks!! Tricky is a great athlete and promoter. Thanks Gerry! Tricky is a great guy, he and Darreem Charles put on quite a posing exhibition! My wife took these pics, they came out pretty good I should be able to get some from the professional photographer. I got good feedback from everyone at the show. I think I need to carbup more I'm up about 5lbs. from Saturday and look just as cut. Seems like I always get paranoid during the last few days and come in a little or a lot flat! Overall I was happy with my conditioning though. What do you guys think?

To my view, you looked in top condition. Maybe a tad flat but not catastrophic by any means. looked hard, and you have a wide and detailed back.
Most athletes I've worked with tend to be their worst critics, which can be a motivator I suppose. But you looked on to me.

Looked pretty close, Joel. His arms looked a bit fuller and his chest slightly thicker, but it could have gone either way. You looked more conditioned.
Anyway, you done good!

Huge congrats Joel! With your performance and your great attitude, you prouved once again that you are a top athlete and a terrific bodybuilder… a true model!
I very like your 2008 physique, your best version yet, no question!
You said that you should have eaten more carbs… but why do you say that, were you any fuller prior to the show? From my point of view, you were fuller that we've seen you the previous years! How many carbs did you have? Because, sometimes, it's not that we need more carbs, it's just that we need not to drop sodium and water too much.
Congrats again and good preparation for the next one...
