Just to let you know that I've realized the hard way that training in the gym for bodybuilding doesn't necessarily prepare you for a hockey season! After 7 years of hockey inactivity, I decided to register in a league once again this year! I thought that my body would still be ready for it since I'm still in good shape because of the time spent in the gym! SURPRISE (Something I knew.... but forgot I guess): Every sport or training works the muscles a very specific way... So here is the list of injuries I've had during the first 18 games! (The sad part is that everything listed here is true!!! ) 1- Left Ankle 2- Groin (Left) 3- Right hand finger 4- Hip 5- Another finger (Dislocated) 6- Left shoulder 7- Left elbow 8- Right quad 9- Right hamstring 10- Left wrist 11- Neck 12- Right side Abs insertion 13- Skin of my Left leg Cant way for the lower back, chest and other muscles to step in!!! ... and cant wait for the next game!!!! Happened to some of you?

In 2002 I decided to play softball. I pulled my hammy. I was only out for a few week or so. I decided no more sports. I just stick to bowling. I guess you can call it a sport though. This will be my last year of that also because it is getting too expensive.
I'm just going to stick to the gym.

I gave up contact sports about 7 years ago when I pulled my groin playing church league softball! Worst injury I ever had! lol
You are a lot younger than me though so good luck with it. Sounds like you're going to need it! lol

Hockey is a tough sport your still going after 18 games ! I have not played any contact sports for years want to be able to walk, and keep my teeth #smileypeacesign6yf#

Ok...just picked up on this trhead....
30 years of martial arts: Broken Nose = 3 times Broken Ribs twice Dislocated fingers = multiple times (lost count) Samurai scar = left thumb Machete Scar = left forearm Sai Scar = right ribs Metal Dirk = penetrated through left hand Multiple Black Eyes (lost count) Brusied over every part of my body (Yes, EVERY part) concussion Knocked out by kick to solar plexis AND for the record. . .I have NEVER lost in a Kumite meet. NEVER.
In my first 15 years of classes and training, I NEVER missed a class. NEVER.
Then of course there was the military Shatterred knees. Left ulnar nerve crushed Left patella chondromalacia = caused by torn meniscus 3 degree burns on right neck and chest by hot M-60 rounds It gets boring after that.
Of course there is lifitng in the gym.... Torn left bicep tendon Herniated L5-S1 Etc.
But that's all part of who we are and what we do. ANd we keep coming back for more. Ain't it great ? ;D
