Anyone ever watched this 3 video series? I purchased it(they are copies) a year ago & watched it again last night. The training is insane(countless reps, partials, negatives, etc.....)!! I loved Tom Platz's legs in his prime, but it's a wonder his bicep was the only muscle he tore. I couldn't believe how much he bounced off of the bottom position when he squatted and the way he slammed & bounced the weight around when doing leg extensions!!! :oThe whole series of training was ridiculous.. I've never seen anything like it and probably never will again. I've seen bad form in a lot of training videos, but never like this. Oh well, it's obvious it worked for Tom, anyway....

I saw this years ago and although I certainly respected Tom's intensity, his form on most exercises was awful!

I have all three of those tapes, and yes, they are insane. Toms form is awful, yes, but back in the day it obviously worked for him. I'm surprised he can even walk by the way he bounces in the bottom position of the squat, but again, he knows what works for him. If you listen to him in the video, he talks about his (I believe) right ankle being black and blue in the '80 Olympia. Everyone thought it was due to the roids he took, but he said in reality it was actually due to his training style. I remember him saying it was seated calf raises that made his ankle turn pretty colors. So his bicep wasn't his only injury, just his most famous. Similar to how Ronnie has strained his bicep doing deadliffts, broken his right toe when a training partner dropped a 200lbs DB on it. You get hurt, but not everything is reported to/through the magazines. I still think if Roy Callender or Platz won the '81 Olympia, no one except Franco would have complained. Those 3 tapes are worth every penny I spent on them. :Happy Spinner:

Youngblood, Funny you mentioned the 81 Olympia.. I just watched it again last night. Danny Padilla, Platz & Callender were awesome! I can't believe Franco won that one either.. There are some highlights of him training on the video I have. His gyno was HORRIBLE..... Still, he had a powerful looking upperbody nonetheless. I guess legs weren't as big of a factor back then as they are today...

Legs were not a big factor in those days. Look at an Arnold comparison, for instance. Back then, and Arnold said this word for word in Pumping Iron, "My body is perfectly symmetrical. If I add anything anywhere, I need to add something everywhere else too." In an Arnold comparison on any of todays web boards, they ALL say "Arnolds upper body was great, but his legs sucked. They were too small. Cut, but small." Some people feel that todays legs are too big. In 73 and 74 (maybe it was 72 and 73 since I think Arnolds knee injury was in late 73), Arnolds legs were big and cut too. But after the knee injury, he didn't bring them up to par again, for various reasons. Franco looked great in the upper body, but again, body building is about building the BODY- hence the moniker Bodybuilding and not UpperBodybuilding.........

I never dare saying that about Arnold (it could have been seen as a crime ;D) but now that someone bring it, the less i could say is that i agree! No disrespect intended agains the "one and only" still one of my favs! Mo

Look at guys like Ken Waller, or Franco Colombu, Tom Platz. All of these guys have differing leg sizes/strengths (pictures of Waller squatting 405 with Franco and Arnold behind him- Stories of Platz squatting 600+ for 15 reps etc....), yet their legs weren't nearly as big as guys thighs are today. Cormier squatting 675 for 2, Mark Dugdale doing a triple with 635 3 weeks from his pro card win, Ronnie Coleman squatting 800lbs for 2 reps 6 weeks from the 2003 Olympia- all of these guys have thighs like bulls!!! Huge, some cut, some not so cut. Jay Cultler has crazy striations, Tom Prince massive Hamstrings and striated thighs. But are thighs today too big?

I have the tapes too and agree on Tom's form but on the same note - have you ever seen Sergio train? his form is just as awful!....and yet! My training most resembles what you'd see Arnold or Robby Robinson doing - tempo wise and form wise.
