This is ridiculous and in its vagueness is unfair to the women. How do they train in light of this?
This year's Arnold Ms. International should serve as a barometer for the rest of 2005. Should be interesting to say the least.
No coincidence that this comes on the heels of shredded Iris Kyle winning Ms Olympia. Agree with Tim and Layne, this is a hypocritical about face.

my thoughts exactly! We need to focus more of feminie not Muscularity... you can be huge and look great.. or small and look manly.. i know its questionable but we need to get a grip on it and start judging like we are looking at females.. Good point, look at Leighsa Bailey and Gina Davis. both were muscular, but still VERY feminine looking.

Too small for whom? pro fbb isn't exactly experiencing an upswing in popularity right now. How could eliminating drugs make things worse?
I realize that everyone on here is a fan of bbing and consequently is likely more accepting of the practices of pro bbers but would reducing drug use be so terrible?
With the whole Balco/MLB stuff going on right now, the IFBB may be forced to do a whole lot more than request a "20% reduction in muscularity of women." If someone wants to make an example of "steroid cheats" then nailiing the IFBB and its athletes would probably be as difficult as shooting fish in a barrel.

They spout crap like this every year. We want softer, we want smaller, we want more ripped, we want less ripped. Thing is this hasn't been translated into a rule yet... how can it be? It states that it only applies to those who need to reduce then it doesn't speicfy who that is or what that means. Let's not forget they applied this to both figure and fitness as well... ZUHHHHHHHH? ?? T

I totally agree! Anddddd I am VERY HAPPY for this news! The thing that I believe is frustrating here is that the IFBB has had their head up their ass for the last 20 years and are now trying to FIX what got out of control. Not an easy job and by many will be considered unpopular but in the long run it's the right move IMO. Who wants a FEmale to not retain her aesthetic FEMininity? Thats why there is female and MALE bodybuilding. The females today look like male regional champs of the past - do we REALLY want that? Bring back femininity I say.

Yeah, it's gotta be tough on the competitors not knowing what the hell is wanted from them. I can't imagine being an FBBer right now.

It's such a subjective sport anyway. If they want to change the standards than they should just simply award the physiques that they like (more aesthetic) and mark down those that do not fit the ideal. That will send the message.
