Here's an issue that irritates me, but is humorous at the same time. I just thought I'd provide some "entertainment". My wife works for a doctor(pain management specialist). He knows she & I are really into bodybuilding, but continually tells her how bad lifting weights is for your body. He says many of the back & other muscle injuries he sees are from bodybuilders & weightlifters and insists lifting weights is the culprit ;D This man knows nothing about bodybuilding. His typical diet when trying to "get lean" consists of eating only 1 power bar all day until dinner, then packing in 200-2500 cal in one sitting. He's practically fainting from hunger all day while at work, but insists it works for him. This man also does 1 hour of cardio at night on an elliptical trainer, but doesn't use the handles b/c he says it slows him down. He insists that he burns(yes this figure is right ;D) 1700 calories PER SESSION. This is a prime example why Medical Doctors should stick to their specialties rather than venturing outside their realm of expertise, don't you think?

Just because they have a certificate that says something is their specialty, doesn't mean jack squat!!! Sounds like this guy is a perfect example of learning how to memorize a test........

I have far more experience than I wish I did with incompetent physicians. There are a lot of dangerously stupid people in medicine who are given far too much credit just because they have MD after their name.
I shudder to think of what mistakes this knob is capable of while his blood sugar plummets through the floor from his day-long starvation episodes.
As former medical student Dave Palumbo once said: "What do you call a guy who graduated at the bottom of his class in med school? 'Doctor.'"

Terry, this quack sounds like he`s got as much expertise as most of the personal "trainers" you find in today`s gym`s !! :Big Laugh:

Wow, the guy is DEFINITELY a knob... any doctor knows that weight training is a major contributor to healthy bones. It's a main recommendation for women with osteoperosis... standard in any crappy handout.
Probably how he got certified (crappy handout).
I have no doubt that he sees a lot of people in pain from lifting things but most likely from idiots lifting things at work...

Wow what a idiot. I wonder if he teaches his patients how to "lift" things so they don't get hurt. Hello McFly!!! Not only is lifting important for bones it aids in controling blood sugar levels, increases the metabolism, and makes activities of daily living easier.
yeah buddy...lifting's bad for you :Head Scratch:

I just wanted to clarify, I really didn't mean to bash the guy.. My wife works for him & he's a pretty good guy and actually good at the job he was trained in(Nerve Conduction tests), but the misconceptions he has about weight training are just off the chart. I'm sure he's not in the minority when it comes to most doctors concerning weight training. I hope I didn't give the wrong impression...

True enough Troy!! ;D Terry ,we`ll bash any non-bodybuilder and hi-jack a thread in the blink of an eye.............you know that !! Nothing personal intended,I`m sure he`s a good guy,and as you said, most likely... there are tons of doctors out there who feel the same way about lifting weights......... I`m sure,as it`s always been this way!!

Ok Tim(aka Hi-jack king ), I see your point. If they don't know the pain of the pump, the burn from a 100 rep set of squats, or the ache in your entire back from deadlifting a half a ton from the floor, we have no use for 'em!!! ;D

This thread has not been officially hi-jacked until Xena comes into it........I'm here, so it's 45% official. Xena is the hi-jackinist poster of all time!!! So that's why she gets the 55%......;D

Okay, okay, I'm here to "top off the tank"......
Here's one for ya:
This guy goes to the doctor and says "doc, it hurts whenever I raise my hands over my head, what should I do?" And the doc says, "well then, don't raise your hands over your head!"
......Oh, and when are the doctors going to stop "practicing" medicine, and actually start DOING it?
.....One more, veterinary joke: What do you call a dog with 3 legs, missing one eye, and has one ear torn off? Answer: LUCKY!!
Okay folks, that's all for now, gotta go give my attention to the rest of the threads, but thanks for listening!! :Happy Spinner:
