Kai was a 215 lb. heavyweight when he won pro card at Team U, I think 5 years ago. So he has morphed! This year, he has won the Arnold and Australia GP, so he is definitely on the same roll Dexter was on last year.
I would not want to judge this year's Olympia, with Kai, Dennis W, Phil Heath, Victor, Jay, Branch, Dexter, Silvio, Hide, etc. etc. This will be a super tough show!

There's seriously something "new" in the diet and supplement routines among the pros the last couple of years because these guys seem to be packing on mass at mostly unheard of rates and staying really lean while doing so.

I wouldn't say there's anything new. I would just say 'another' way to use what they currently have, as a guess. Also, you'll notice that these guys that blow up and do so in such a quick manner, also do not last as long. Heck, Bob C. was just saying King Kamali is most likely retiring this year. Using KK as an example, he turned pro around 00-01, and had one decent placing in 01 at the Ironman (3rd I believe). Since then, he's done all he could to even make a ripple in the tide pool! Playing the mass game killed his physique, although in my opinion it was never that good in order to do damage on the levels he thought. With the damage done to his war-torn body, we have yet to see one instance where this damage can/has been reversed.

I totally agree YoungBlood. These guys who make superfast gains fade out super fast as well.
I also don't think there's anything all that new that they're doing regarding supplementation, etc. But there is something with a combination of food, training and maximizing the use of said supplements I think. Simply more isn't the answer nor is it a new thing becasue they all have the same gurus giving them the inside edge. So it may simply be that some are willing to push it a bit further with the food and training and some supplementation also.
Truth is there is no longevity to it when you approach it this way. Maybe that's OK for them to be a one hit wonder but let's look at some that did this huge amount of gain very quickly.
Take Ronnie Coleman for example - made slow steady gains and lasted a long, long time....UNTIL - he made a huge jump in one year and went up to 296 - sure he was little softer than the previous year but he made such a huge change so fast and then it was all but over. He was near unstoppable when taking the slower road.
There are others - KK as you mentioned and more. I'm a bit tired to type them all out but I think this type of thing somehow puts more stress on the body than going a slower road. We all know there are chemicals used at this level but I don't think thats the only reason. There is more to it than that. Unfortunately once these guys make that huge jump in size it's all downhill it seems.

Yeah - you're right fit. I think it may be simply more of the same but more. More food - more/heavier training - more rest - more supplements.
I don't know - of course it may be that one individual that shows more recouperative abilites and then they simply push it as far as it can go. Others may get more tired and can't handle the added stress of max feedings and training. Obviously I don't know - but it would be something to be onthe inside of EVERYONE's total regimen simply to see how everything stacks up against one another and is it simply different genetics that allow for this in some individuals and others not.
Though I do agree we seem to be seeing a bit more of this thing lately.

Insulin and 20 or so chicken breasts a day combined with 600 lb squats, 500 lb benches is going to put on a lot of size- if you dont get sick or die first. Kais just very gifted - and lucky- to date any way.
