Just curious what everyone uses while dieting(or gaining, for that matter)? I'm currently using Dave Palumbo's Isolyze b/c I know it's pretty high quality stuff, but it's getting kinda expensive. Anyone use Scivation's Whey? It seems pretty cheap to be any good, but I've never known them to put out cheap quality products...so....

Great to see you posting again, Terry! I've been partial to and recommended Dave Draper's Bomber Blend over the years. The chocolate is great! Not sure how it compares economically to others, but a container of about 2.2 lbs. is $34.00, or a case of 6 for $174.00. Like getting 6 for price of 5. www.davedraper.com/fitness_products/product/SBB.html

I'm a Trueprotein.com junkie. Great stuff, economical too. You can mix your own or pick one of their formula's. I'll vary my proteins, usually ordering 2 different kinds every order. I always order a 50% whole egg, and 45% Milk Isolate, with the final 5% being bcaa's. Sometimes I may change the ratios a tad, but that formula IMO is the absolute KING and should be the base of EVERYONE'S powder list! The second formula I will always mess with. I usually run out of my pre/intra-workout BCAA/EAA's shake between needing to order more of the aforementioned powder. So I purchase more of the EAA's, and order another type of protein. Sometimes it's micellar casein mixed with whey, sometimes I will throw in milk isolate to that. Sometimes I make what I dubbed (after the ster@*d Sustenon 250) Sustenon: mix 5 different proteins up and you can't really go wrong. Whole egg, milk protein isolate, beef plasma, micellar casein and whey protein...maybe add a tinge of bcaa's for good measure.

Can't go wrong with TP, their flavoring isn't the greatest and I've tried several. To be honest I can't really tell a difference between the cheaper whey concentrate blends and the more expensive isolates. I've gotten into good shape using both.
Right now I have some TP cold filtered isolate, but I haven't been using it because the orange creamsicle flavor I accidently ordered is kinda funky tasting. I've been using EAS chocolate that I buy at Sam's Club to make sludge! YUMMY! It actually tastes great and mixes great.

I ment to order some more of it when I run out of my current supply. What do the guys at Scivation say about the difference between isolate and concentrate?

I use Iso-pro from Precision.
It's a very lean protein and it has all the BCAA's a bodybuilder would need!
Precision even has a no sweetener natural variety... This "no flavor" powder smell like a cow and taste like sand but it's a great option if you already have a lot of sweetener in your diet: soft drink, yogurt, ect.

Typically I use whatever is cost effective and available. I personally don't think that a little change in the ...cross filter, cold-exchanged, ion fractured, oompa loompa razzle dazzle makes a damn bit of difference in the bigger picture.
If we're dedicated to the diet and keep ourselves in a positive protein balance it shouldn't really make that much difference.
Now will some have better add-in things to make it more than just protein? Possibly - and that could make a difference, but when it comes down to simple protein for protein I feel there is little difference between tuna and the next super iso-whey, etc. as long as we don't get to the point where we're running on empty.
Taking in 200, 300, 400+ grams spread evenly throughout the day and we should never have that problem.
Just my humble opinion.

Taking in 200, 300, 400+ grams spread evenly throughout the day and we should never have that problem. Just my humble opinion. Sal I agree with you, Sal. I've seen studies, one in particular I like to reference by Jim Wright, that say it's not so much what kind of protein you take in, but more so how much. But as well, I do think it will behoove anyone to take in different proteins at different meals. There is no way, or reason, for you to eat steak all day every day is there? So why would you have one type of protein powder? To me it just makes sense to cycle your powders just as you would a typical meal pattern throughout the day.
