This is a funny story I heard at Powerhouse gym yesterday...just makes me chuckle !
VINCE....you ar Da' Man! ;D
Two lifters were talking about "this guy" named Vince Anello.
One was telling the other a story about Vince being in the gym watching two young lifters deadlift. He just stood watching without saying anything. One lifter was telling the other all about the techinique of deadlifitng, and explaining in great detail how hard it is, and how long it takes to develop a great technique to lift big weight.
These two "kids" were doing singles with 315-405 lbs.
Vince allegedly asked the young man if he could give it a try, but the young man said, "I don't know. That's quite a lot of weight (405 lbs). I wouldn't want you to get hurt." (Note: See the thread about Vince's records).
Vince said, "Thank you for your concern, I am "getting up there" ya know, but I'd still like to try.
After giving their "warning" they gave a simply stated description to the "elder man", and suggested he start with a lighter weight.
Vince didn't say anything during thier explanantion, and then stated, " I'd like to give this a try (the 405 lbs.). "I really don't think you should do that. We don't want you to get hurt".
Vince just smiled, walked over to the bar, and with perfect technique, cranked out 10 of the strongest most beautiful deadlifts, you'd ever seen!
The two "kids" were awestruck, as Vince walked away smiling!
You just can't tell a book by it's cover!
Now, I don't know if this story is true, but knowing Vince, it DOES sound like something he would do!
Gotta love it!
Just another day in the life and legend of Mr. Vince Anello!
Our hero!
;D
If we keep at it.....SOME DAY...they might even tell stories about us!
