May I ask your opinion, Ladies and Gentlemen?
15 weeks out of the Canton Show....
I have NEVER done the SHOWTIME Cut Diet Final Week Prep.
Q #1 = What do you thin k of doing a trial run contest week prep at the end of March (about 4 weeks out)? I'm just a little nervous to try something for the first time the actual week of the Contest. Thoughts?
Q #2 = I have NEVER done a show that doesn't start until 5:30 pm Saturday. NO morning show to peak for. What are your thoughts, opinions, about peaking once in the pm? Water cut off time? Carbs? Salt? ets?
You know I value all of y9ur experience, so help ease my paranoioa ;D
Thanks!
Frank

Don't do anything drastic. Prep yourself throughout the time leading up to the contest, and as you get leaner and able to see things clearly, make notes as to what your body responds/looks the best with/to.
To answer #1, a trial run is a GREAT idea. Arnold talked about doing this prior to his contests. Always mentioned that he would always get ready a week before the contest, so a 16 week prep would really be more like 17 weeks, but he would use the prior Saturday to pose, eat and do everything he would come contest time. In his words, "the best way to get into contest shape, was to do a contest." Give it a run, see how you respond, and make adjustments as necessary.
Just remember, if you keep it simple and do nothing exotic, you won't have to resort to any last minute exotic measures to correct anything should anything even go wrong.

Thanks YB!
All great words of wisdom.
It's just starting to feel like 2006 was a LONG time ago, and I'm starting to question (or forget!) what I already know!
I want to tear it up in Canton!

Good advice YB !!
Don`t forget though, that at 4 weeks out doing a trial run,you will probably respond to things a tad differently 4 weeks later due to being leaner........probably not a big deal though, just something to keep in mind.
As far as water intake and cutoff time goes, everybody does it differently. Personally I have a hell of a time getting in as much water that`s usually recommended during a prep.
So far into my third week of dieting,I`m doing OK but I still need to drink more.
A few things that help is to drink a certain amount at each meal, keep a 20 oz. sports bottle with you and drink all day, refilling when needed,or fill a gallon jug or two and try to make sure you`re finished with it/them at the end of each day.
At about a week out I try to drink more than I have all during my prep.
The night before showtime I drink a veritable ton of liquid, and usually stop around 9 PM or so.
Expect to piss like a racehorse throughout your prep and especially the night before the contest, taking into account that you should be drinking even more than ever Friday night before the contest.
If you`re not in the bathroom constantly pissing, then you are not drinking anywhere near enough.
Once you stop drinking Friday night, you will continue to piss as you always did, but will not be replacing any water so you`ll be dryer, and carb up will transport some of the H2O to muscle cells making you look tighter.........this only works if you are very lean,so stay as strict as all Hell.
More about carbs, sodium, and the whole peaking thing to come tonight.......gotta` go eat!! #aeatachicken9xi#

Wow..thanks Tim! You made me remember SO many things!
KEEP IT COMING BROTHER!
Any thoughts on the whole show not starting until Saturday night? Registration doesn't even open until 5:30 pm!
Now, what's that you say about sodium, carbs, etc? ;D ;D

Never did a show without an AM pre-judging but all I would do Friday during the day is eat very light. As long as you`re ripped, you`ll be OK and the extra time gives you more time to piss out more water so you`ll be drier. If it ain`t broke, don`t fix it. My thoughts on last minute tricks, carb ups, sodium, and tanning products are on the way............getting tired of all this one finger typing!! LOL

Tim....Thanks SO much!
I will wait patiently...."good things come to he who waits" ;D
I have printed out the pics of the guys who competed in last years Canton......they ALL came ready to rock! I thought I was looking at the movie "300" because they ALL had ripped 6 packs.
The only draw back I've seen on this show is that becuase of it's small size, they start Masters Class at 36, and if not enough competitors, they lump them all together in one class. Big difference when you're talking 20-30 year age difference.

Get lean as hell, then a bit more.. Plenty of water up til 12 hours before showtime. If you're really lean, all u need is to load up on carbs, cut water on time. You will be probably look great just with that if you dieted right. Good luck!
