Ok.....not great.
Didn't place.
Story......
Weighed in at 155.7.....just missing the 154.25 cut for lightweight which had 5 athletes.....went into MW which had 15 athletes, most of which were younger and cut down from 180-190 to make the MW class....and remember...untested show.
Masters....cut off was 35 and older......15 athletes, again most of which were in there 30 and 40's.
Not even sure where I placed, except knowing I wasn't in the top 5. I have NEVER not placed in BB contest. I was not happy.
No excuses. My best wasn't good enough this time.
ON THE UPSIDE .....
I looked the best I have ever looked for a contest. My upper body was full and tight. My arms were full, vascular and tight. My chest had striations, my back showed much improvement and the "anaconda's" were popping.
My legs were the largest in BOTH groups, front and back. Outer sweep much improved and cut. Calves cut and full and vascular. hamstrings were tight and popping.
Color was dark, with a great sheen.
My routine to music was fun, and people liked the opening guitar riff of "Sweet Child O Mine"....Guns & Roses.
My downfall: Weighing in too heavy. I had a shot in the LW field. My first weigh in at 5:45 pm was 157. I went outside and ran in my flip-flops, spitting. pumping and angry. Went to the rest room. Weighed back in at the cut off time of 6:00 pm at 155.7. No Xmas gifts at this show.
My weakness is my core. This sunk me at this show. My V-Taper is lacking, abs not ripped enough, and core in general is just too thick. NOT fat...too thick.
I'm taking notes......and taking names......
I took today to indulge my palate.....tomorrow I'm back in the gym....35 days until Lancaster PA, Saturday, June 5th...NABBA Keystone Classic....... I'm there.
My "off-the-cuff" plan is to "Whittle-the-middle". Cardio and core is my mantra for the next 35 days. DIET=STRICT. period.
I want to thank Terry Wagner for coming out to the hotel and venue with us, helping me out, taking pictures, keeping Bernie company, taking the heat off of us from the police (long story), having dinner with us, and for being a great guy and friend.
Terry...you are Da'Bomb! Now get back on stage with me brother!
NOW.....back to work.
The Beast is wounded. The animal in me has licked his wounds long enough......enough to be VERY dangerous. I will rise. I will overcome. I brought my best, and it wasn't good enough. So now....I will bring BETTER....... Lancaster is in my sights.....ready...aim.........
Careful.......THIS beast will not play well.....it's hungry.....dangerous and......unpredictable. The gym will not be safe place to be around me for the next 35 days.......
So.....it is....what it is.

Frank, If you looked your best ever that is all that truly matters....remember the true competition is always that with ourselves. You seem to have a solid idea of what to do from here...........execute the plan and move ahead. Congratulations on a great job!

Thank you sir!
On another positive note, I spoke with one of the judges this morning who agreed with my assessment of myself, and said he had me in 6th place in the MW and Masters....not too bad in a field of 15 athletes mostly half my age.
NOW.....I'm fighting over the idea of doing the Keystone Classic in Lancaster PA on June 6th....or flying down to Alabama to do OldNavy's show July 10th.
July is tough......Hotel and flights + registrations etc......and one week later we fly to Denver for my wife's 3rd Raw Nationals. We have already committed to that one.
Decisions, decisions.

Proud of you, Frank. Dwell on the positives. 6 out of 15 is the top 40%, not bad!! And if you came in at your personal best, that is a victory in itself. The placings will come, just keep plugging away. Did good, brother.
