The competitive juices are flowing again after a little more than a 2 year layoff due to injury & family reasons.

Chuck, which show/show`s are you planning on doing? Sometimes doing a contest is just what you need to get into the best shape of your life. I`ve decided to take about a year off to bring up my weakpoints.I did 5 show`s this year, and have been competing non-stop since 1999.My off-season has only been about 4-5 months. Not a lot of time to improve. My main goal is to place at the 2005 NPC Master`s Nationals in the Over-50 middleweight class. My birthday is in June, and the conyest is in July. This would be a great belated birthday present to myself.

Sounds great.
I believe it's necessary to take some time off after doing several competitions. I don't like to do more than 3 shows a year, usually grouped together.
I was toying with the idea of doing my first NPC show. I train "Natural" and am a bit intimidated.

Chuck, all you can ever do is your best. It`s all subjective anyway.I do NPC show`s because I think it`s a very prestigous organization. They do have a few tested show`s in New England that are NPC.Mike Katz and Jerry Mastrangelo put one on every year in Conn. If you need any info on this particular show Chuck just let me know, and I`ll find out the details for you.The trouble with tested show`s in my opinion,is that most of them are still alowing drug users in anyway.I can site several examples of this right in New England without metioning names, but I won`t. More money from the entry fees ,sometimes makes people turn a "blind" eye!

Too true, Tim. Have seen lots of blindness when money is concerned.
Luck to you and Chuck in your endeavors. And Chuck, don't be intimidated. If you get on stage in your best shape then that is a victory!

Thanks Tim & Gerry.
I was considering the "Bev Francis Atlantic States" on June 5th in NYC. Jay Cutler is Guest Posing and I qualify for Masters now (I'm 36). I may do both the Novice and Masters Classes.

That`s a top notch show Chuck,I entered it in 2002. Another good show to do, would be Dave Follansbee`s Mass. State Championships .Dave`s a great guy ,and the contest is getting better and better.I was a little disappointed in the awards this year though.

Either show sounds like a good bet, Chuck . Jay is a tremendous athlete and person and always enjoy catching up with him.
Plan to be at Atlantic States so it would be great to see you. I also coach competitive posing, so if you want any advice or assistance let me know. There is a link to my tips page in the Articles and Links section of this forum.

Hey STBBG,
I have a tough time dieting through the Summer months. I'm a Fire Fighter/Paramedic and would fatigue quickly from the heat in a fire with all my protective gear on. Not fun.
What are your plans in the Fall?
