I have been looking at tim's post on carb cycling and have a few questions for anyone in the know. I need to lose about 40 lbs to get my health in line so all help is greatly appreciated.
1 I weigh about 240 lbs right now. Do i need to eat 1 to 1.5 grams of protein times my bodyweight now or the ideal weight i want? Say my target weight would be 190lbs 4 to 5 months from now. Do i eat 1 or 1.5 grams of protein times the 190 or the 240?
How many fat grams a day is healthy and resonable for someone like myself trying to lose weight.
Last, i have been looking at tim's carb cycling program and thought about doing that, but can you eat broccoli, green beans, and sweet peas at each seating or do these carbs count against your carb goal for that day. Sorry for all the londg questions but all info will help me in the long run. thanks
p.s. I have been lifting weights and doing light cardio up to this point. I plan to bump my cardio up once my bummed knee heals up.

Joe,I wouldn`t go over 30 grams of fat per day........I am eating very clean right now and I know I am getting in enough trace fats.....even on a clean diet....I am not one who advocates adding fat when dieting...you`d be surprised how much you are actually getting even on a clean food diet. In order to determine your protein question, you would need to determine your bodyfat and/or lean bodymass index........I would certainly not be alarmed if you ate 1.5 grams per day......anything you do not use will be excreted or converted to glucose through the process of glucogenesis. You need the protein to maintain muscle while on a calorie restricted diet........of course the average couch potato would not even need the 1 gram per pound of bodyweight as there would be no tissue breakdown from training. When I cycle carbs, I only count the complex starchy carbs.......fibrous vegetables, while still being carbohydrates, are simple fast burning carbs, that are mega-low in calories.....if I was really overweight,I would count them though. Of course if I go to zero carbs for a few days,I count them also.
