Judge Strikes Down FDA Ban on EphedraBy MARK THIESSEN Associated Press Writer SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A federal judge Thursday struck down the FDA ban on ephedra, the once-popular weight-loss aid that was yanked from the market after it was linked to dozens of deaths. The judge ruled in favor of a Utah company that challenged the Food and Drug Administration's ban. Utah-based Nutraceutical claimed in its lawsuit that ephedra "has been safely consumed" for hundreds of years. Supplements that included ephedra have been widely used for weight loss and bodybuilding, but have linked to 155 deaths, including that of Baltimore Orioles pitching prospect Steve Bechler. The FDA ordered the substance off the market in April 2004. Judge Tena Campbell's ruling sends the matter back to the FDA "for further rulemaking consistent with the court's opinion" and keeps the agency from enforcement action against the companies. FDA officials did not immediately return a call seeking comment. Company president Bruce Hough said the decision is about "protecting the public's access to safe and effective dietary supplements." Great news, I miss my fat burners! I think FDA is way too strong and misdirected! Misdirected.. Misinformed.. Mistaken.. Misguided.. Misused.. & furthermore the FDA could use a lil' "in-house" cleansing, and get caught UP TO DATE with the modern era.. I am sooooooooo sick and tired of govt. run agencies run by a bunch of ol' schoolers that really don't have a friggin' clue on how certain elements of the sciences apply in todays world.. they seem to worry more about how to pad their pockets or why their not get'n their cut.. they ban something that "claims" has killed 150 people, YET tobacco products continue sales.. absolutely F*****g amazing!!.......................later. Great post!!! Especially about the freaking tobacco, which kills thousands of people every year. It's unbelievable to me, how fu*ked up the government is. Misdirected.. Misinformed.. Mistaken.. Tobacco, alcohol and rec drugs do more damage than ephedra will ever do. Will be interesting to see what develops further, but this sounds good.

And how many people have been killed by the use of pro hormones i wonder? 5? 10? at the most.
This is rediculous what government and pharmaceutical companys are going to,( did i say) GOING TO do with the supplements.

Thats pretty much what i though Bodyfx, i was giving a few just for the benefit of the doubt.
This government is going to force more and more people to fight against it one day if they think they can pull some power trips similiar to what happened in England way back when, the people are going to stand up against it and shove it thru a wall.

My thoughts are that the entire thing was a way to get more money into the hands of the pharmacuetical (check spelling) companies. Ban a success full fat bruner from being on over the counter and you can prescribe it in safe dosages!
Look what some of the local and state governments are doing with over the counter drugs that are associated with "Crystal meth" labs, ie. sudafed. They are getting them to be placed behind the counter. I think the next step would be to make them presription.
It sickens me.
