Just curious what everyone does to keep the bill collector away?
I started life in the auto repair industry (nice way of saying grease monkey). In 1978 I started a body shop (auto) and ran it for 10 years. In 1988, I took a fellow up on an offer as an insurance property damage appraiser. In 1996 I changed companies(another insurance company) and have been with them since.

I was a manager at Herman`s Sporting Goods until the company folded a few years back. After that I managed several other retail stores.I wasn`t training at the time so when I got back into training I started working at the gym in my hometown. After a while I got into my own personal training business and have been doing OK with it ever since.Presently things are slow for me as I moved to a very small town in upstate NY with a lesser demand for my services as a trainer but I will get it back together soon.I like doing this and while I am far from being rich it`s better than punching a clock and helping someone else get rich while I do the work.I`ve also made and refurbished hurricane shutters for 4 years when I lived in Florida.I didn`t know what a hurricane shutter was when I got there from Massachusettes but now I could put one together while blindfolded. ;)I`ve done a ton of other stuff over the years as well, kind of a jack of all trades and master of none. ;D

I can surely see how a personal trainer job would work very well for you Tim. When people look for a PT, the first thing they do is look at how they look. When they see someone like you, that ends the search for a PT.

My occupation is a weird combination - Guitar teacher and Cartoonist. I've been drawing as long as I can remember, and earn extra cash now and then, usually doing muscle-women comics for you crazy guys in the States! (I'm in the UK). You can see my stuff here: www.jimmibo.co.ukMy main income is from teaching the guitar, which is the only job I've ever done... I used to teach in a music store and a couple of schools, but I earn more money sat here in my living room, having the students come to me! After leaving college I started doing this right away, and like Tim said, it beats punching a clock and it leaves a lot of time during the day for training ;D

Mikey my dad is an appraiser for FHA he's done very well here in California in the last several years. Man I bet he has been busy with the real estate market there. A friend of mine just retired last Aug. and moved to Florida from Ventura. He owned his condo for 3 years and made 110,000 on it. He was able to have a nice home built in Ocala for the 110,000. He says he misses the weather in Ventura, but the cost of living is near half in Ocala.

I work for a stock options firm called Susquehanna International Group LLP, I pretty much manage there inventory and reorders on a day to day basis tracking it through 10 different major cities. It's a pretty basic job but large in scale since the current inventory is up 30 million dollars in computer equipment. Before that I was a supervisor at STAPLES.

I am a mainframe computer programmer for a state agency in the South. And let me tell you it is tough to fit my love for lifting while tied to a desk 8-5 M-F, no freedom to come and go. To make it worse, just can't get myself to wake up and do that 4:00 am workout, so the late day is where I have to do it.....Maybe I should take it as a sign to get another job!!!. I will ask my wife, she will tell me what I should think LOL !!!! ;D
