It depends.........this`ll be my 4th. time competing at the NE`s,and I have done OK.
Some guys are freaky, some are just your average bodybuilder.
I only do the Masters now,so there aren`t as many juiced up guys.
I have also done light and middles, and while some guys were "on",I held my own.
A lot of guys become reliant on the sauce, and think they can slack off on diet and cardio, and some pill will get them ripped..........this is sometimes the case, but not always.
That`s why my ass is on the cardio religously, and dieting like a madman.
Sadly enough, even most "natty" contests aren`t truly natural ,so it all just becomes a crapshoot, depending on who shows up in your class on any given day.
I pay my dues in the gym and at the table the best I know how,so I never feel bad no matter who wins, as long as I have done my best.
I don`t mind getting beaten, but when politics pop up,and I place lower than expected,it pisses me off.
I am not naieve enough to think that everyone there is clean,so I am taking a gamble when I send in the entry fee.

Been on that New England stage off and on,since 1990. Some of the best bobybuilders have come for New England.I have witnessed some truely amazing people move on to become Professional athletes, throughout these many years. Tim is correct about the drugs. All the important emphasis in Nutrition and hard work is taken for granted with alot of the younger athletes these days, with the dependence on the gear. I certainly do not wish to insult anyone's intellegence by preaching on the subject.Obviously it sounds hypocrytical of me to do so.Personally,I always relied on the Nutritional aspect. The "assistance" is only a small part.Anyone can go on a truckload of juice but not many will achieve the physique to become a Champion.

Very good point Blaze........good to see you posting here!! I have lived in Mass. most of my life, and have also seen some awesome bodybuilders come out of NE since the 1970`s. It was,and is becoming again,a hotbed of bodybuilding.

Thanks bro...........glad to have you with us !! I beleive I was offline with computer problems when you joined . I think this board is great, just need to get more people like we already have, and get them to participate. It`ll catch on,and if it doesn`t ,we`ll still enjoy it ourselves.

So Gerry, are you entering this year or what bud? Not sure?! Been on track diet/training wise but off my "mindframe" from switching jobs and adjusting financially. As of yesterday I was around 196 or so at around 5.7%. Will officially decide 4 weeks out.Hoping to come in better than last year.I know they will not let me place higher than 5th(or not at all)but that won't stop me.I am there to beat myself.

I always prided myself on pushing this body to it's limits.Year after year,I strive to beat myself. The older is become the harder the effort and to me THAT is what it's all about. The younger athletes can get away with it but never take advantage of their "edge". You may be older Tim...but nobody will ever say you train like a kid! They can not keep up!

I was only kidding Gerry........I train as hard as I ever did.
I love to push to the limit, and then beyond.
Burned out many a younger training partner who thought they could keep up.
I love it!! ;D
