Don't know the year but he looks young. Found the pic at the bottom of a case full of mags. I must have cut it out to pin on a gym wall.

Notice that its a non Oly bar at 7' they could only hold 500lbs...

Try squating "ass in the grass", then your knees will not have to stop and start the weight when squating parallel...

going all the way down is great...i feel my lung pressure help me push the weight up at the bottom position.. although you can't do as much weight...you don't have to worry about going parallel or not....
plus...no body at my highschool weight lifting class does full squat...they even said there is no such thing when i told them to go all the way down....
probably because they never saw a person do it before. ;D
not to mention they're doing 3 - 4 plates per side..and going above parallel.
also their cleans....omg.....rounded back!!! and their benchpress ....omg...bounce on the chest....i won't be surprised when one day they bounce so hard they break their rib cage.
they also believe you need belt on basically every back exercise...i think even db row.
