Well the NY show is in the books Darrem C. wins it as it is much deserved. But the lower placing athletes looked pretty bad (with a few notable exceptions).

I think its time the IFBB considers 2 weight classes for the men. Under 225, and 225 and over.
A lot of guys competing today would benefit from coming in under 225, to name a few (Dennis James, Victor martinez, Gustavo, Dexter ect).

One other thing, I did 7 polls comparing David types (aesthetics) vs Goliath types (mass monsters) asking people who they would want to look like, and not one mass monster won in a poll.

I think a 225 an under weight class would bring out more aesthetic phyisques, but the over guys would still have a place.

For the betterment and longevity of the sport and for the future health of the athletes they need to stop this size game!!! But I don't see it happening. Athletes are getting sick and dying. And it doesn't seem to be an issue at all.

The smaller guys can't compete against the mass monsters until they change the judging. And that won't happen as long as the IFBB thinks mass will sell tickets.

There's always going to be someone that wants to be the biggest/best/baddest out there. And I think that's where the size game begins, and why everyone follows.
Ronnie, he was big, then got bigger. So did his other bodyparts (gut), so he had to get even bigger to try to make his gut less obvious, at least that's the way it seems to me. Since Ronnie got bigger, no matter the reason, he is still King. Everyone is chasing the king, and that's the reason why others are playing the size game, since the King is the biggest of 'em all!
I think what people should be more worried about is synthol. Injecting what is essentially motor oil for your car, and not expecting repurcussions? Bad idea!
Smaller physiques are certainly the preferred case over here. But go and do the exact same 7 polls at Muscle Mayhem and/or GetBig, and I'm sure the Goliaths will be the winners there. Maybe not a unanimous (SP?) win like our Davids here, but seems everyone would be willing to get huge and ripped to dangerous levels- even if it means taking 10+ years off your life. Like PBB once said, I'm not sure living to age 90+ is a "good idea." Once I/we get there, I doubt any of us want to die, but I'm sure a lot of these huge guys don't mind getting to the grave at age 50-60 in exchange for hugeness because they see lots of elderly people having a hard time getting around.

everything has a plus and a minus i guess . I doubt that it would have a positive effect on health .. i believe more people die tryin to get shredded than big .. but thats just me

Hey guys. In the david vs golaith posts I'm usually voting for the mass freaks, however, I may have to change my thinking after really considering the posts above. To me, and I don't mean any disrepect, Ronnie looks terrible. Hadair as always is totally put together and not overblown looking. He's still massive but has the classic lines. - He's our modern day Lee Labrada/Mass with Class guy.

Well said, Mike. I tend to favor guys like Haidar and Darrem. Conditioning and symmetry should be where it's at.

Have respect for Art, Jay and the others if that is how they want to look. But conditioning should be the priority.
