Seems my dedication is wearing on him. Don't get me wrong, but we've been going strong for 10 months with zero breaks and well, I'm stronger on alot of moves than he is.
So, should we take a break this weekend, kick back in next week? I'm wary of breaks because my last one ended up last 7 months.
I just don't know.
Any advice would be welcome
Brock

let me ask, do you work out 7 days a week? I would have to say yes to taking the weekend off. The body needs it. The best way I can describe building muscle is when you tear it the healing adds each time. Hence total repair is needed to tear again to add size. Just my philosophy.

Hey Bro Carl
Pretty close- 5 x a week, cardio on "off" days, in addition to home and garden duties.
I guess we are close to burn out.

It's good to take a break every 12-16 weeks. Gives your body, joints, CNS system and mental concentration time to rejuvenate and recharge. Just because one time led to being 7 months, doesn't mean you'll let happen again. Or will you? NO YOU WON'T!!!! Don't let it! Take a break for a few days, it's better to do that than burn yourself out and take another 7 month layoff, right?

I would say modify the routine somewhat. perhaps reduce the volume and the weights and hit the gym 3 times next week. then rest up over a 4 day weekend. when you go back lower the weights somewhat and start progressing again on your normal 5x a week program. So if you've been going strong for the last 10 weeks, go back to the poundages you used 10 weeks ago, but perhaps just slightly higher. (maybe 2.5 lbs more). Then you can start the build up again.
