Believe me Sara, I know all about this. You just have to kind of keep focused on other stuff and stay busy. It is HARD when you hate your job and just want to walk out and NOT come back..Just keep focused on your training, and keep smiling!

Sara,If I hate a job, and simply dread getting out of bed to go to it everyday, and feeling like I`m marching straight into hell.........I quit it just like that!! There have been many times I have quit a good paying job that I despised, to take a cut in pay, to do something I enjoyed. Makes getting out of bed each day a hell of a lot easier. You gotta` at least make an attempt to be happy but content works also. PS-If anyone gives you BS on Mayhem or any other board I`m a part of they`ll be dealing with one pissed off Massho**e! ;D

LMAO...Thanks hun. That idiot was such a tool! I hear ya about the job thing too...that's exactly why I gave my notice this week and am now on the hunt Starting to feel a little tighter Although I wish I could get more sleep. Got 3 hrs Fri night and about 4.5 hrs last night. I'm guessing that plus stress eariler in the week are the reasons I'm not feeling well. At least I can hear a little better today LOL! I took some new pics this AM since I just realized that I'm 20 weeks out today (the show is on a Sunday). So, these will be my starting point pics. I'm also VERY happy to report that I found someone to work with. We chatted for a long time yesterday and I'll be getting started soon with him. His name is Kristian Alexander, the 2001 Canadian Nationals HW Champion/3rd Overall and owner of GURU Physique Transformation. I feel very confident that he will help me really improve/shred my lower body and get my ass in shape (literally). I'm also still on the fence about whether I'll do BBing or figure. I'm still not sure which my body is more suited for. I'm thinking that I'll most likely start with figure but then maybe do BB in a fall show. Here's a couple pics from this AM and the link to some more if you want to take a peek. I'll start taking pics every week now. pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/sdiorio/album?.dir=/139eAM Cardio: 40 mins (20 recumbent bike, 20 treadmill on incline 4-7%) & Abs PM Training: Arms & Glutes DIET: 8:45- Glutamine, BCAAs, Lipo6, L Carnitine (pre cardio) 11:30- 1/2c oatmeal, 1.5 scoops whey, vitamin 2:00- 5oz 99% lean ground turkey, broccoli, 1 scoop Yammits, Muscle Nitrous (pre workout) 4:45- protein pancakes: 1 packet instant oatmeal (banana bread), 1/4c oats, 1/2c pumpkin, 4 egg whites, 3/4 scoop whey (cinnamon roll), splenda, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, spray butter, sugar free syrup, glutamine, creatine, BCAAs, vitamins C & E (post workout) 8:15- 5.5oz chicken, 1 tbsp low carb BBQ sauce, spinach salad w/cucumbers & scallions, fat free/carb free dressing & vinegar 11:10- 2 sccops protein shake, 1 tbsp natty PB, glutamine

Looking real good Sara........how tall are you by the way?
Last night a buddy of mine,Luke Malone from my hometown, whose pics are in the members photo section, called me up and was telling me how I should do the NE Masters class again in May.
I am torn between that one, and one in Rochester NY, which is much closer to me, and would be way less expensive.
If I do the NE,I have to start dieting as of today, but I can wait a while to start the diet if I do Rochester!!
AAARRRGGGHHH!!! :Head Bash:

THANKS SO MUCH PBB and Tim...both of your comments mean A LOT coming from two people I respect highly. Tim, I'm 5'6. I agree with Luke, you should do the NEs! As you know, it's a great show and would be nice to compete back in your home state I'm sure...and of course, I'm being selfish LOL....I'd love to see ya there and cheer you on. And, if you decide to do the show, you and your wife are MORE than welcome to stay with me if you're looking to cut down on costs or if you need anything, feel free to ask. I only live about 20 mins from the venue 20 weeks out today baby!

Thanks Sara,I appreciate the offer.......my wife probably won`t go,she supports my efforts, but really isn`t into it.
I took her to the Atlantic States in NYC,and one in Rochester last year, and she wandered all around the venue just talking to everybody, and not even weatching the show. ;D
She`s gotta` be one of the friendliest people you`d ever meet!!
I`ve got a ton of friends going to the contest, or competing from the West Springfield Gold`s Gym ,so I know I can find a place to crash.
I`ll let you know for sure if I`m gonna` enter by this time next week..................can`t wait too long at this point!!
For some reason you look a lot shorter in your pics!

Sara,
i have been going thru this thread when i have a chance and i really admire your tenacity, enthusiasm and sincerety to your posts here.
I think you not only want to go thru with this show, but I beleive you truly need to give it your all because it will help propel you even further in other endeavours.
I know all too well about challenges, trust me a couple years ago I was heading to the top(not bb'ing, carreer and life here) and started taking things lightly and well destroyed and lost everything several times during that period.
But what I have learned is that no matter what good and bad happen in life and if we are willing to go for it we can get back up and push thru anything and acheive whatever we want.
Anyways my point is keep doing and constantly improving on whatever it is your doing and you will get to your destination
something like that

WOW...Thanks, Milly! You hit the nail on the head about my reasons for doing this show and keeping this thread going on 3 different boards. Yes, one of the reasons is to FINALLY do my first show which I've been aiming to do for over a year now, but kept having bumps in the road along the way. But, like everything else in life, I believe things happen for a reason. This time around, I feel I'll be better prepared both physically, mentally, and emotionally to give it my all. I've gain some muscle in my "offseason", particularly in my upper body, which if you look back at pics of me from early this year, I feel I needed greatly for symmetry purposes (esp since I have a large lower body genetically and to begin with). I also was going through alot personally at this time last year and earlier this year...yes, I have some stuff going on now, but as a result of my experiences last year and in the past, I'm coping much better with things this time around and have learned to channel the stress in the gym and not in the fridgerator LOL. Secondly, I'm doing this show to fulfill a LONG TIME goal of mine. I've been a HUGE fan of BBing and fitness/figure since I was probably 13-14 yrs old (I'm 28 now...the show will be 10 days after my 29th bday FUN FUN LOL). From the moment I picked up my first BBing magazine and saw Pumping Iron and things like that, I knew that I wanted to do this. It just took me a very long time to overcome some other things in my life so that I could get to this point, and for that I'm very proud to be in the place I am now. I have many people around me that doubt that I'll ever actually fulfill this dream, but I've also learned to channel that negativity too. The support, friendship, advice, etc that I've received on Mayhem and now here have meant more to me than I'm sure anyone will ever realize, and to all of you, please know how grateful I am to you. Third, I'm doing this show because I love a challenge, particularly one that makes you a stronger person in the end, which I KNOW will happen here, it's already happened and I know it will continue each day of this journey. This lifestyle requires discipline, determination, time management, motivation, sacrifice, among many other things. All of these qualities roll over to other areas of one's life, so you can't help but become a better person, and a more life experienced person, as a result. Finally, I'm doing this show because I do want to one day work in the fitness industry. I'm currently working on becoming certified for personal training. I then plan on going on to get my sports nutrition certification. I hope to start out as a trainer for a good and reputable gym/club and eventually have my own training, nutritional consulting, and contest prep business. I also would love to write a book someday on my experiences along the way to get to this point. For those that don't know, as a teen/young adult, I battled depression and various eating disorders (bulimia, anorexia, overeating, binging). I also at one time weighed as much as 190 lbs (although I most likely weighed a little more at my highest but this was the highest I actually saw the scale read). So, I think that I have a lot to share with other women that have gone through or are going through similiar struggles. I would love to help these people and help others find this wonderful and enriching lifestyle, which quite literally, I feel, changed and possibly saved my life. WOW....sorry for such a long post, but I've been wanting to get those thoughts out for awhile. Thank you again Milly for inspiring me to let that out and for your kind words.

Good post Sara, and one thing that stood out to me personally is the doubters...........people who doubt that you will or can achive what you say you will,I`ve had them in the past and I have some now,it gives me great pleasure when I can say,and I always do......"I told you so" !! ;D I use their negativity as fuel for my fire!!

Thanks, Tim. You're right and thta's what I've come to learn how to do lately...makes for a great workout Well, I'm home from work AGAIN today, although I do need to make calls from home for these damn surveys that are driving me crazy. Can't seem to shake this ear clogged feeling and feeling a little run down. I called the Dr about it yesterday and they suggested I try something from CVS for the next 2 days and call again if it doesn't help...UGH...I just want to be able to hear again out of BOTH ears dammnit before I have to hop on a plane Thursday! My workout last night (chest & calves) wasn't great, I'm noticing my strength is down a little bit along with my stamina. I'm going to skip AM cardio today, see how I feel later on today and maybe/hopefully train shoulders and do a little cardio afterwards depending on how I feel... DIET: 9:30- 5 egg whites/1 yolk, 2.5oz 99% lean ground turkey, 5oz yam, vitamin, extra vitamin C, Lipo6 12:00- 2 scoops VP2, 2 low carb whole wheat/oat bran tortillas, 2 tbsp natty PB, spray butter 4:00- 1/2c oatmeal, 1.5 scoops whey, Muscle Nitrous 6:45- Muscle Milk shake, gluatmine, BCAAs (pre-workout) 9:15- 1/2c oatmeal, 1 scoop whey, glutamine, BCAAs, glutamine, creatine, vitamins C & E 11:30- 5.5oz chicken, spring mix salad with cukes, scallions, no fa/carbs dressing, 1/2 tbsp natty PB

I'm still not feeling well, actually a little worse. I'm calling the doctor today since the CVS remedy didn't do anything, which I expected. My ear is almost swollen shut at the opening, so I'm suspecting it's an infection of something because that is just not normal LOL. It's not painful, not nagging and frustrating because it's so stuffy/clogged that I can't hear out of my left ear. I'm feeling a little rundown too. FUN FUN FUN seeing as I have to get on a plane tomorrow...UGH. Hopefully, they'll give me something that'll made me start feeling better by 9am tomorrow LOL. At least I got 6 hours of sleep last night which is the most I've gotten in a little while.
My shoulder workout last night wasn't great..it was OK but my strength was down) either and I didn't do cardio yesterday since I was exhausted (only got 3.5 hrs of sleep that night) and wanted to rest a little. I know I'm sick and should just suck it up, but it's frustrating to me because my chest workout the night before sucked. I don't like to have bad workouts and I HATE taking time off....took enough off this summer and now that I'm back on a roll and seeing improvements, it honestly makes me nervous to have to miss workouts now. This week is the worst to have to do this too since I won't be training tomorrow since I'll be traveling and then Sat is XMas and Sunday I'm traveling again. Might hopefully be able to workout Friday, but you get the point.
But, nevertheless, I'm not a fool either and don't want to make things worse. So, I plan on just doing cardio today and laying off the weights today and resting tomorrow. Hopefully, this will help improve my workouts later this week.
I have been talking with my prep coach/trainer and am VERY excited about what is in store. I'm very confident in the program he's putting together (although scared, he's TOUGH but I need that LOL) and am anxious to give it 110% and see what happens...
AM CARDIO: 45 mins recumbent bike, Abs, Lower Back Off training day
DIET: 7:45- Glutamine, BCAAs, Lipo6 (pre cardio) 11:00- 1/2c oatmeal, 1 scoop protein, vitamin 1:20- 6oz 99% lean ground turkey, broccoli 4:30- Muscle Milk shake w/4oz low carb fat free milk & water, glutamine, Lipo6 7:30- 6oz 99% lean ground turkey, green beans, 2 Udo's caps 10:45- 1.5 scoops protein, 1 tbsp natty PB, glutamine, vitamins C & E

Got some bad news...As you know, I haven't been feeling well, so I FINALLY got in to see the doctor this afternoon. Well, I have a SEVERE ear infection, the worst he said he's seen and some congestion problems. He put me on 3 different meds and some Afrin for my flights this week. Now I'm hesitant to go down to NC, but it's basically too late now, I leave in less than 24 hrs. He said it would be OK to go, but to be prepared to be in pain and told me how to take my meds to try and help alleviate some of it. FUN FUN FUN. My workouts the past few days have sucked. So, I have no choice but to take it a little easy the next few days. I HATE having to do this, especially during my prep, but at least I still have a little over 19 weeks...but I have a lot to lose and tighten up before then. Just means I need to make sure my diet is EXTRA tight the next few days, which should be fun during the holidays down South!

That sucks Sara, sorry to hear it,but as you said, it`s early in your prep, and from my experience you would be much better taking it easy before resuming hard training. Better to be 100% to fight another day, than to be at 65% and just go through the motions......... all the while taxing your body`s immune system. Hang in there and have a safe flight!!

Sara, an ear infection and flying??? Can we say OUCHHHHHHH?! It's gonna hurt. pressure on your eardrums is alot. Did the doc tell you to chew gum before takeoff and landing, especially landing? If not, it will help. Start chewing it, vigorously, about a half hour before you land or when you feel the plane start to descend. I promise it will help. But it's still going to be rough.
